Compatibility problems!

Hello~

I want to reinstall FFXIV on my computer but it wont let me.
I'm getting this message that it needs to be the windows vista service pack 2 in order to install. I checked around the web and found this:

1. Browse to the DVD in Windows Explorer
2. Right click ffxivsetup.exe and click Properties
3. On the Compatibility tab, uncheck "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" (if you can't uncheck it, you probably need to click "Change settings for all users" at the bottom of the same dialog)
4. Reinstall normally

My problem is that everything is already unchecked and it's not greyed out, meaning that it's unchecked for all users too.

Finally, I found out that I could download that Service Pack 2, but it wont let me install it either. I get an error and they redirect me to their site where they ask me to download «something else" and that "something else" doesn't work too. (it's some kind of updater)

I'm at a loss and I'm a computer noob. That is why I'm asking the community for some solutions. I'm working on Windows Vista. Any ideas?

I haven't used Vista much but I know for a fact it's a total pain. But it looks like you do need the SP2 update. Or just upgrade to Windows 7 (100X better than vista). I'm guessing maybe the issue is you don't have Sp1 installed yet? In that case go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935791#Download . You need to choose either 32 or 64 bit depending on which version of Vista you have. Then try to install SP2. Good luck!

Actually, the SP1 is already installed on my computer. It's included on the Vista CD I bought.

Ok for the manual SP2 download link try http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/dd262148 and click on either:
Stand-Alone Version (x86) - For 32 bit Vista
Stand-Alone Version (x64) - For 64 bit Vista

Well, the direct download version of the SPs includes all the prerequisite patches needed to install the SP. Going through windows update, however, the system is still too stupid to tell you, "You must install Patches X and Y before installed the SP." Which is silly, because that feature worked just fine in Windows XP. Just another wonderful way that MS has taken a step backwards~!
