That'd be a bet easily lost. Obviously people are going to flock to the new job, but there's no reason to the majority of people who actually "love" ninja will not like it for some arbitrary subjective reason.
BLM is "easily" the most boring DPS in the game but that doesn't stop people who love BLM from playing it, does it?
Wrong word to use then, instead of saying those who "love" it. I mean those who are getting hyped up about something they've not experienced.

Naruto is not a ninja... he's a loudmouthed dumbass that doesn't know the first thing about stealth or assassination, you know... the things Ninjas do. I cringe every time I hear the word ninja applied to anything at all having to do with Naruto... gawd I hate Naruto.
Believe it!
Ninja doesn't excite me as much as Rogue does, honestly. Too bad they go hand in hand. I'll probably level Rogue to 30, get the stone, and be done with it.
What I really want is Beastmaster, but who knows if that's ever coming.
My thought exactly.. Couldn't agree more.
I welcome it, the hype will make most Brds switch to nin, then I can be the best Bard in the world!!!!!! MUAHAHAHHA!!!
:3
Riiiiight... compared to all the mind-blowingly original classes we have so far. Let's see, there's Sword-and-Board Tank, Pet-Based DoT Caster, Glass Cannon Nuke Mage, Healer With Defensive Buff and Rez, Melee DPS Who Attacks From Behind... Yep, certainly never seen anything like those before! Ninja certainly has big shoes to fill when it comes to innovation.
You may be surprised to learn that the Naruto manga/anime did not actually invent the concept of ninjas. They have been a thing for a while now. Believe it or not, there are, in fact, many people who do not think of Naruto at all when they see a ninja.
Also, did you know Twilight is not the first vampire novel? It's true!
People... like... ninjas? I don't know what there is to "get," it's pretty simple. And Ninja has been a job in Final Fantasy for a while, so it makes sense to develop one for FFXIV. Or, you could view it as people just being excited for a new class/job in the game, no matter what it is.
Not enough upvote buttons in the world....
I agree with OP. Not for a single second was I excited for Ninja.
When I think of Shadow from FFVI, I'm kinda interested. Although, when I think of XI NIN, I just wanna bang my head against a wall and punt a lalafell.
I think a part of the hype is Ninja is likely the closest thing were going to see to a Thief class in the game, which many, myself included have wanted to play since the game's launch. Some variation of a Thief has been a part of almost all RPG games that exist. I personally consider it a mandatory class for RPG games MMO or otherwise. Weather you like the class or not it's play style is desired by many....finds ninjas boring? All that sneaky-stealthy stuff, beaten to death japanese cliches, and not to forget the naruto associations they bring along. Of all the classes they could implement this one is probably the one I'm least interested in. And I serously don't get the hype.
