It's a row idea, that can be tweaked to the right number. And i could be wrong but i don't think SE is wanting to give us a full DPS meter anyway. How do you measure sustained damage? Which job? Dummies are there for people who actually care about this stuff and if you did you'd know that every DPS job except for monk has massive spikes in their damage output, usually at the beginning, and sustained is just how it averages out and is not an indicator of how much you are doing at any point in time.
Not only that but for all of the jobs except for BLM their sustained doesn't last 5 minutes because of resource issues. In a real encounter they sustain for longer because jumps and mechanics give them downtime, and you have paeon, against a dummy you can only get an idea of your sustained by attacking until you run out, which is well before 5 minutes. Why not just have dummies tell you how much damage you're doing? It's so simple.
