Lazy retainers

My retainer is an i82 arcanist and usually brings me fish or housing materials, which discourages me. But then she'll bring me a Raging Vortex Couch or Ultima Ring of Slaying or the Leviathan fountain, so I keep sending her out. What is that called, Gambler's fallacy? :P I always hope, "This time she'll bring me something cool."

Nah, it's only the Gambler's Fallacy if, after getting Malm Kelp twenty times in a row, you tell yourself, "Well, I've gotten crappy stuff twenty times in a row - that means that I'm due for something great on the next run!"

As long as you understand that past results have no bearing on future gambles, you're not falling victim to the fallacy!

Does she bring you these things from field exploration or quick ventures? I have one retainer that I send out regularly on field exploration, but he doesn't really bring me anything of note. He's only lv 37 though. My other one isn't geared high enough to send on the highest ones so I'm not bothering until I can get her geared properly. Should I be sending them on quick ventures instead? I'm worried I'll run out of ventures if I do that :P

I send my retainer out on the Quick Ventures during the day and on the 18 hour when I'm going to stop playing for the day. But the cool stuff is from the Quick Ventures. I have yet to get anything other than hyppogryph skins or coeurl skins from the 18 hour ventures.

I don't know if they've changed it, but my retainer that isn't level 50 yet used to bring me cool stuff on occasion, too. I stopped using her for a while though because sending two retainers out every hour burns through ventures really fast. But recently I've been doing Fates trying to get enough atma for a second weapon, so I get enough Grand Company seals to keep getting ventures.
