To be fair, higher level gear is supposed to lean - not force, just lean - the random items towards more valuable from Quick Ventures.

However, Quick Ventures are still really, really random. You can get almost anything in the game - high level unique pieces of gear you won't see, for instance, like Relics or High Allagan - but you can see the furnishing material drop from Turn 9 for instance*. ...Or Malm Kelp.

* (This is the most valuable thing I've heard of having been brought back by Quick Ventures, and to my knowledge goes for 2 million plus on most servers)

Higher gear does allow you to do more Hunting/Gathering ventures and the 18h Field Exploratoins, however, and the higher tiers of that provide better results. More importantly they provided consistent results, as they're either fixed items or from extremely small pools of possible items.
