No, you can't list them on mb, or give them to anyone else, they are tagged as untradable.

What do you expect from your retainers? You are only paying them 2 venture coins at can not even be used at Chuck E. Cheese's.

I've gotten tin coins, fishes, or worse. But I've also been pleasantly surprised by a Vanya Robe that I sold for 150K, 2 moogle grimoires, Ultima amulet, and many other odds and ends I was able to sell for 15K or more. But yes, it is RNG, and most of the time the stuff be lucky to sell for 500 gil.

Both of my retainers just brought me a HQ Striped Goby. Now if only they could bring me those new dyes.

My retainer is an i82 arcanist and usually brings me fish or housing materials, which discourages me. But then she'll bring me a Raging Vortex Couch or Ultima Ring of Slaying or the Leviathan fountain, so I keep sending her out. What is that called, Gambler's fallacy? :P I always hope, "This time she'll bring me something cool."

Nah, it's only the Gambler's Fallacy if, after getting Malm Kelp twenty times in a row, you tell yourself, "Well, I've gotten crappy stuff twenty times in a row - that means that I'm due for something great on the next run!"

As long as you understand that past results have no bearing on future gambles, you're not falling victim to the fallacy!

Does she bring you these things from field exploration or quick ventures? I have one retainer that I send out regularly on field exploration, but he doesn't really bring me anything of note. He's only lv 37 though. My other one isn't geared high enough to send on the highest ones so I'm not bothering until I can get her geared properly. Should I be sending them on quick ventures instead? I'm worried I'll run out of ventures if I do that :P

I send my retainer out on the Quick Ventures during the day and on the 18 hour when I'm going to stop playing for the day. But the cool stuff is from the Quick Ventures. I have yet to get anything other than hyppogryph skins or coeurl skins from the 18 hour ventures.

I don't know if they've changed it, but my retainer that isn't level 50 yet used to bring me cool stuff on occasion, too. I stopped using her for a while though because sending two retainers out every hour burns through ventures really fast. But recently I've been doing Fates trying to get enough atma for a second weapon, so I get enough Grand Company seals to keep getting ventures.

Ive gotten where I just use my lancer retainer for quick ventures primarily and my miner gathers whatever resource is selling well. So the DoW one is my RNG gamble one and the DoL one I can make 10-15k gil per venture based on the level she's at. The more interesting quick venture items I've gotten include a Tonberry Chandelier which I sold for a few hundred thousand gil (since my private room has a Morbol chandelier already) and I got some Manor/Stone Vigil furniture which were in the 100k+ range on marketboard but I kept because I figure gil comes and goes but particularly valuable furniture that comes my way via that route has more meaning to me vs if I bought it.

Just quietly curse your retainer's name under your breathe after they give you another damn fish/furniture/entire house before you send them off on another quick exploration again.*

Within the next few ventures they'll feel bad for disappointing you time and time again and bring you some of that new rare dye or some reasonably/extremely valuable crafting item they mugged somebody for. Works 99% of the time for me.

*For extreme disappointment, send them off on an 18h exploration when you don't even need to log off yet. That'll show 'em for wasting your time.
