    I have watched a video for every primal and coil boss I have attempted mostly to have an idea of what moves to be aware of, then I practiced in DF runs or in "learning party groups" until I felt confident enough to down it in a kill party. Nothing beats first-hand experience though. Watch as many videos as you like... experience is best ^^;

Usually I went with some of my fc members/friends and join a pf after doing a little research on the fight. The videos and tips only do so much, of course; I learned pretty much everything else through the practice parties. At least that's how I did it for the primals (up until ramuh ex).

For coil, I joined a static in the fc. I did my research and did my learning wipes. Eventually the clear happens.

When ramuh ex happened, we tried using party finder, but it became apparent that we were just too nice. Yeah... eventually we had to start making stricter requirements for our pf and replacing people that were clearly holding us back. There was only so much you could learn about the fight when you never get past the add phase...

So yeah, it was pretty much always watch a vid, take a group of friends, use party finder, wipe repeatedly.

For both primals and coil I went in like a boss...

Jk. Primals I went in blind on all accounts. No reason whatsoever to vid those. T5^ I tried to glean info from vids but to be honest I adapt better when I can do it hands on. Still haven't cleared SCoB admittedly but there are worse things. I at least got to experience some of it before the nerf bat

Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all.

    Never underestimate stupid XD

With FC for learning fights when it's new and going in blind. Albeit SV HM I did on first day through DF as tank and figured it out pretty easy. Albeit last boss, did it by getting both mobs low then killing together, over-complicated it. XD

That thing popping up, I'm supposed to do this, right?" ; you can always ask your first group for clarity on things.
I use her vidoes too! They're great, concise but with all the info.

After that, I sometimes watch the kill video (if it's linked) mostly to get some tips on what their WHM is doing, and then I start PF training groups. I got my Levi and Mog Ex kill that way, but for T5-6-7, Garuda and Ramuh I had to ask my FC because training groups were never going anywhere past certain phases and it's impossible to join a kill group even if you're confident about the fight because of all the "myth message=disband" parties.

Grab my FC, or start a PF, faceroll until I know why we wiped, and repeat for each phase.

I don't watch a lot of videos anymore, it's not that I go in blind and enjoy the thrill of the unknown..which leads to dying.

If you want to prepare for primal and coils this is what I personally do and am doing for Ramuh & getting back into tanking.

Start at lesser content, work your way up. I know it sounds odd, but so far this is my thought process and it's worked fine for me, though you may have a different method.

Content in this game scales, what I learn from pervious fights I can, in one way or another, use on my next higher fight. In terms of Ramuh, take on the story mode fight..that's what I did for Levi, it gets you use to the basics. Of course there's people who just burn it and ignore mechanics, but those are bound to show up.

Discuss the fight with FC members. Videos are fine I'm sure they show you the fight but usually I get more detailed explanations on things I'm not 100% sure of from FC members...so communicate with friends and FC \ LS members.

Finally..start a learning party in PF..very basic, let them know there will be blood..oh yes. Then I move it to semi-learning, to clearing. And do things right, not the fast way. You're learning the content, the most harmful players I've ran into are the ones who try to rush it, whether it is because they are so use to it that they don't know how to backtrack, or they watched a burning video of how some over powered / players who know the fight very well did it and figure that's the right way. You have time in this game, that's why you're on. Take the extra few minutes in a fight if you can and win, rather than jinx it and try to shave off a few more minutes.

This seems like a tiring long process but in the end I'm so much better off for it rather than jumping into the content with both feet. I'm able to react much better to things and get to a point where I feel comfortable taking in multiple jobs. This is my process..so I don't expect it to be what others do.

As for coil, same deal but with a twist. Dungeon content & hests are wonderful tools too. Take the one where you have to kill everything at the same time or within a certain period of each mob dying, that's a great way to get use to the snakes dying at the same time in Turn 1.

Then the chit chat with other members makes up for the curve ball mechanics.
