if new players get confused by that then the new players are retards and need to go back to wow where its so simple a 2 year old can understand it would be my reply to yoshida. I would like a more interesting materia system ;D

I remember posting a big wall of snooze in 1.0 about wanting something a bit pliable and less random (I doubt it was because I asked, but some core changes I wanted to see did happen, so that was nice.. <3 ).

As Amused said, you will definitely want to put some controls on how and where these special materia work, but it would certainly allow for new and possibly wildly different builds of the same job (given the right abilities). Will of course cause FotM.. you win some and lose some I guess.

Pipe dream to be more like FFVII (connections, interplay, positioning)/FFIX(skill grafting)/Diablo 2 Rune Words(interplay, system upon a system), and with careful balance perhaps bring crafting gear closer to dungeon gear but to also allow dungeon gear to be a part of the system. That's crazy though, so many changes and a lot of work.. >.>;

We aren't shaming anyones spelling. Just asking a question. Was hoping it wasn't materia cause the materia system in this game sucks and was seeing if someone came up with a new fresh idea.

No, it offers the illusion of choice. Because when there are multiple builds there is always a best one. And when there is a best one the meta will only accept that build. Have fun being excluded from content because you have improper melds.
