So we can ditch it not long after we hit level cap and then grind the secondary tome for lightdark armor and collect the weekly tome for the recolored versions of the AF2 while we're tackling the new 8 man weekly lockout raid?

I think we can be nearly positive that you are right.

The only difference will be, hopefully, a few more bits to distract us from the gear treadmill when we get tired of it.

You thought of that because that's how AF worked, we have no idea how it will work, we could have to get AF2 from the new raids who knows, but I don't think SE will have reskins of af2 for tomes this time round.

I'd just like to point out that we actually used AF for quite some time. It may have been before you started playing, but in 1.0 a few select pieces of AF were actually competitive for end game gear. They had things like "Enhanced Flare" and "Enhanced Jump" that made them valuable in a unique way.

I don't know if they will be coming with the new patch but I definitely want the AF2 gear. New job specific and properly themed gear is well overdue.
