    Its not pointless. There ARE users who had been requesting this as far back as 2009 in the Eorzeapedia Suggestion box back before the game even released.

    There are players who WOULD use this.
    And as far as I can tell, If SE did it, they would be the first MMO to do so. (if not any video game period allowing players to actively choose which hand they use.)

    Why anyone would argue against a positive Character customization option that would increase a bit of the uniqueness for some characters is beyond me.

    Its like people yell and scream "We want more customization!" before the game releases, but then when someone asks for it all you get is "ehhhhhhhhh"

    I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

    While people may (and most likely a minority) have requested such a feature the question has to be asked, "Do they want it now?".
    I wouldn't mind betting that the people who asked for this all the way back then don't actually play FFXIV now.

    As for XIV having the chance at being the first MMO to do this, why is it so important that they put in something as insiginificant as this in the game just to try and stand out?

    If you're saying that inverting rigs in a modeling program is easy, yeah, it probably is. But only because it is setup that way. I've written my own joint animation system for my engine, at it is not set up for something like this. I'd have to duplicate all animations, or completely rewrite that portion of the engine. One is not efficient, and the other will take way longer than I'd like invest. You can never compare tools against engines (Once again, assuming that's what you meant).

    The way the crystal tools engine is designed it has the ability to manipulate model render size and dimensions without changing the actual model for those. If it can do that I have no doubt it can simply invert the model and animation as well. Similar to how character are inverted for SFIV. They didn't animate the characters multiple times for left and right facing, they only animated them once and inverted it. Its not that hard. Hell I've inverted Animations in SL from multibone animations without ever having using an animation tool before.
