Few essential things

Ok so my first 10 minutes.

Create account, patch, all is well.

Then i logon, character creation, wonderful.

Then cutscenes, beautiful.

Then i gain controll of my character...
-I noticed the wasd control are not defaulted properly.
-I noticed there is next to none keyboard shortcuts for map, quest log, bags, character equipment... The essentials.
-This is a big one. I still don't know how to make my display full screen. That should be detected, default and perfect.

Those are the main points for now. Other than that i didn't get the interface for selecting the character for the forums but that's not really important.

It's the little things you notice the most...

Played the game some more. It's starting to sink in.

-However i'd like to point out the strafe function also changes your heading. I'm certain this comes from a good sentiment but there's some things that would just bother people.
-The abilities interface doesn't seem very polished. I expected to be able to click and drag the skills i wanted. I wasnt and because some skills coudn't be removed it was difficult to get anything done at first.
-I had a quest where i had to emote things. Nothing wrong with that except i noticed i just wanted to press spacebar to clear the dialog. That or the mouseclick. It's just more movements otherwise.

Those may not seem like much. Actually they would probably be easy to fix. But they're very real. How many times will you strafe in a game? How many times do you use keyboard shortcuts on a computer game? How many times will you change your skills? Now pretend you didn't like those things...

Sorry to say this to you, having read all your posts and seen your profile, you have barely scratched the surface of FFXIV and already you are complaining about....well everything!

Sorry ashtoreth, but that's entirely the wrong way to look at it.

The game needs new players... that's why SE is busting their ass to fix this trainwreck. This guy has been playing for about a day and he see's what we've all seen for a year now.

His complaints are just as legitimate as mine, (and frankly they are pretty much the same complaints.)

Telling him to play something else is neither constructive nor conducive to getting this game to where it needs to be.

That being said, I'd mention to Train to do some searching around on the forums, He'd get a better idea of what is wrong with the game, what SE knows is wrong, and what they are doing about it.

At this point it mostly comes down to patience.

The interface has been a concern of mine and hope to see the issues you've presented addressed.

I graciously acccept what you are saying and embrace it, its just that it is a little tiring sometimes seeing all the negative posts, even moreso from someone so fresh into the game ; ;
