Fenrir in a duneon? Really SE, reallllllllly?

The six elemental primals in FFXIV are based entirely on the same set from FFXI. Is it really any surprise that people are disappointed to find others of XI's summons have been relegated to the trash heap of pathetically weak dungeon bosses when the entire pantheon of primals in this game is a direct lift from XI in the first place?

It's just sad to see the likes of Fenrir and Diabolos as inferior shadows of their other incarnations. I only hope this won't be the last we see of them. I'd like to think that Fenrir will be linked to Odin's story in some way and that Diabolos being a voidsent will be able to return later on.

To be fair if you count every FF game and not just the main numbered titles then Sylph makes a fair number of appearances. Sylph doesn't carry with it a strong image, however.

On Fenrir's appearance: It doesn't bother me. We don't even know how hard the battle will be, if there will be a hard version, if there will be a savage version etc. It's not like we'd ever get to use him on SMN anyway in the same vein that we'll never get to use any summons outside of the main 6 elements. So what's the issue? That he he won't be perceived as a big bad primal or pseudo-primal that we have to fight in a standard arena? Well then I have to revert to my first point: we know nothing of the difficulty. Strategies used to fight him may vary based on the moon phases for all we know!

Fenrir was something else in another series. Fenrir is something else in FFXIV.

Gladiator was an elemental sword attacker in FFTA. Gladiator is a tank in FFXIV.

Things change. Things doesn't have to be a carbon copy of past game elements. If you treasure it so much, play that game again.

I wouldn't have a problem with it if lvl 50 dungeons actually had some staying power. A year from now players won't even know Siren/Diabolos/Fenrir even exist in game.

As someone that played almost every FF but not XI, who the hell is Fenrir? I guess he may have been in other games too but I still don't remember him. I guess not that important of a guy.

Fenrir was a cool avatar to have in FF11 - it spoke of the caliber of the SMN to have him because it was a difficult fight and not every summoner had him.. The same could be said about Diabolos.
