Aegis has the right of it, less so on the Raise, moreso on the melds and DPS. THM could put out much higher numbers than BLM due to melding Vanya and being able to cross-class PGL/LNC/ARC abilities. The 5 you lost from your job were nothing compared to the 10 you gained from being a class. BRD/ARC were in a similar position. For Dzaemal Darkhold runs it was common to have 2 WHM, 1-2 PLD (1 as a backup) a1-2 BRD and the rest ARC since ARC could pull much higher numbers than BRD.

We can still somewhat do this today. MRD and ACN can both pull equal to higher numbers than WAR/SMN but again it takes a lot of perfectly melded gear. Well I should say we could as I haven't read much about it lately. But in any case it could bring MRD DPS to just under DRG a few months ago IIRC. But who brings a tank to do a DPS's job? lol.
