Unless they reveal that there is actually another class or job coming in 2.4 or SURPISE GOLD SAUCER IS HERE, then I don't expect much. I mean I am sorry, but SE has a trackrecord of being extremely underwhelming after a lot of hype. E3 being a great example when they go out and say "dagger and gun class sooner than you think" just before E3 and then it ends up being a one class -> one job reveal (and a *piip* you to those who wanted THF) when because of their previous statement most people probably expected two classes and maybe even up to four jobs since the only new class ever added before had two jobs to it. I mean I wonder what they thought "sooner than you think" meant for most because since they have said they will be adding classes even before the expansion I was honestly expecting more by now. SE likes to hype and not live up to it. By now I expect "big reveals" to be underwhelming even though I of course hold out hope for more, since you never know, but I am not going to hype 2.4 until they actually deliver.

As it is, it is looking to be a very average patch for anyone not interested in NIN. Then again, who can complain about getting more rehashed HM dungeons to farm no drops but fun tomes. Lol, nah it is not that bad I am being overly pessemistic and exaggerating, but I do hope they deliver this time around with the "reveal".

I would like to blame the community members who tend to over hype and exaggerate things.

I try to live a bit more of a cup is half full kind of life. If you expect to be disappointed then disappointment will follow you everywhere.

This. Square announces something once and then two months of hype from the community ensues. The disappointment is directly a result of the players over hyping and building unrealistic expectations.

This is exactly what happened with Personal Housing. The only problem with this as Yoshi-P is that he has to release *something* into the information stream to keep players interested. Otherwise you'll start to see people complain that there's no information being released (pretty much all of FFXI).

Exactly. The only thing they should have done was let people know personal and guild housing would now share the same zones since they did say previously they wouldn't. Otherwise simply having more available housing zones is all they could really do to improve things, and even then people seem to expect there to be enough for nearly everyone. Anyone with knowledge of servers and capacity would have known ahead of time that it's going to be impossible for that to happen. So here we had a situation where the player base wasn't going to be happy no matter what, but that didn't stop expectations from running amok. People need to douse their expectations with a bit more reality.

The problem with personal housing is the price, they have been released with a price that is higher than the FC houses 2 moths after their release, of course, the influx of gil is higher as well, personal houses are way cheaper than the FC ones were, the price is the same but the influx of gil have changed, that's what the player-base fails to understand, we should blame both, Yoshida for not using the correct words, and the players for nor being correctly informed, it was clear that the personal houses would be located in the same wards the FC ones are, and with the amount of gil we can earn now doing just our routines the price would't change.

This is out of place, it's not only offensive but also a lie, FFXI players are used to no see new updates or info for a year+, that's how ffxi updates worked.

I really don't understand why people care about personal/FC housing. Every plot on my server has been sold and my FC got a house a few weeks after they were released. They are nice to have and a cool place to hangout instead of being at Toll or Limsa, but no one actually does anything in the housing wards. There is so little you can do that is interactive in relation to housing that is basically a doll house. On that note, if you can't afford to buy a house than you shouldn't be dreaming about wasting your money on decorations.

Sorry, pricing has never been the major problem, it was availability of wards and spaces (and the fact that Personal Housing would share a common space with FC Housing). Not everyone who plays this game is poor or has a problem making money. It was always implied that an arbitrary number would be set, a number which would diminish like FC Housing. Aside from that, the general player reaction on forums have been blown way out of proportion. It's a problem which will eventually resolve itself with 2-4 subsequent patches.

It's not out of place nor is it offensive, nor a lie. The lack of updates or information about any updates created a big rift between the devs and the players for years in FFXI. Players and fans then had to deal with an assortment of very dumb updates, while old bugs and problems remained un-fixed for years until they were eventually spotted by devs. It's only now with FFXIV: ARR (and Matsui's direction with FFXI) do we see a direct connection with the devs, much less a forum for both games.
