Others begin trying to hop on board and make profit from my efforts there- and then I start the process again, often demolishing them in the process. Not always, just often.

Good for you, i of course get around "attempts to destroy me" by being diversified and not requiring one thing to sell.

In all fairness, the Scorpion Harness market he refers to was a big deal in FFXI. Even a NQ Harness was so much better than other body pieces of its level range that it was perfectly acceptable even as endgame gear. Roughly three quarters of all jobs in the game were considered gimp if they didn't have one, and the materials to craft them were rare and expensive at the time. Acquiring one was pretty much considered a rite of passage for DDs and tanks aliike. And getting a HQ Scorpion Harness? A synth had, at best, only a 10% chance of HQ (and that high only if you had a rather specialized crafting build - 1% chance if you did not). Getting one marked you as someone who was very serious about your class, because it was a huge investment.

The markets in FFXIV, though, are an entirely different story. There's no equivalent to the Scorpion Harness because ALL rare sale items are luxury items. Housing items, glamour items, minions - none of these things are preventing you from progressing in the game if you don't have them. As crafters wrestle over various markets, buyers can either buy or shrug their shoulders and leave without feeling any pressure whatsoever, unlike the Harness buyers in FFXI.

Sorry, but no one cares. No one knows who you or your retainers are.
    You are actually wrong there.

People do know who the retainers are basically you craft a HQ item which comes along with your name which gives information who your retainer is.

Also some people do try to ruin your name, I have seen people shout to not buy from people or claim they have a list of your name to avoid buying from people. there was even a topic I believe about it.

I even posted and said this is why they should remove your name from crafted items.

Though the list thing is far fetched and not everyone is gonna listen but who knows but who cares.

But I have made sure my retainers on my server can be recognized by sight, and are notorious. I do massive amounts of selling and repurchase through them, and I always use them to make a point.

Any time someone undercuts me, I undercut them very severely, and I am willing to crash/ruin the specific market we share just to teach them that lesson. I have even crashed a market because of people attempting to purchase from me and then resell with a price fix. I make them regret that thoroughly as well and sell at a loss..

Really? this is HILARIOUS. I'd undercut you so you'd waste money destroying a market then take things off for a week while it rebounds nad keep doing it over and over again!

I do undercut because I judge the prices welllll overpriced, I also undercut when I see zillions of the same material selling at the same price and since I want to sell it I place the price a bit below, I generally I am not at a loss, all I would price is my time...material doesnt cost me anything or so little that by the price I sell is welll a profit, since I can craft basically everything myself. I am not sure why people consider their price a better price then this of other ?

If I want to undercut I undercut, if I dont want to undercut I dont undercut, if I want to over price I overprice, although it happens nearly never unless I have no reference price. Why to cry over virtual money ? why to be greedy ? silly at best...patience is a virtue, and if your stuff doesnt sell well dematerialise it...or dont build it or keep it, or even better, donate it (if possible).

I undercut all the time. Do I care what people think? Nope, not a f*** is given that day or any day. I especially undercut necessity gear if it is truly overpriced. Something like the nutkin I will post as the same price because I don't see it as a necessity .

I don't see a problem with under cutting.

It's been a part of mmos for years and it's not going to change.

<sarcasm>Oh dang why didn't I think of that. It's always been done so there's no problems guys. I should use this on anyone who's ever been discriminated against.</sarcasm>

You're comparing undercutting using virtual currency in a computer game to discrimination.

A cynical person may say you just threw that word in there to try to add weight to your argument.

I'm sure you wouldn't do that though.

I figured you might say this. As ridiculous as a comparison as it seems, so is the justification that you used. You're right, I could have used any word. The fact is, "it's what always happens" doesn't excuse any type of behavior solely on that basis nor does it mean that there isn't a problem with said behavior. It's too bad that point is so easily distracted from lol. And a cynical person might say you used the old "don't compare games to real life" card, but I'm sure you wouldn't do that though.
