Just wondering. Is it possible to reduce the timer of heavy with Chocobo Down Materia?

Just get off your chocobo and run through those areas. Or dodge aggro instead of mindlessly running. There are ways to avoid heavy if you aren't lazy. Besides, heavy is hardly a punishment for catching aggro. It's annoying, but it ultimately amounts to nothing.

Tempered Will from PLD also gets rid of it in addition to the Elusive Jump already mentioned.

I agree it is kind of annoying, but I very rarely get it put on me over and over as the OP states. As has already been said, if you at least make an attempt to run behind mobs that aggro to sight then you will deal with it a lot less.

...Except when the developers intentionally put the field of vision of the enemies in directions other than where they are facing (looking at you Natalan gate guards =_=). Esuna also cures Heavy, which doesn't help much since any of those abilities can only be used while dismounted and you can not remount while under attack.

I don't mind that Heavy is there. I understand what it's there for but, I for one would just like for the rules of this game to be consistent. If heavy in any other situation has diminishing returns, then so should it be while on mounts.

This is how mob heavy came to be...

SE Dev: So, when players reach lv50 they become almost invincible, all these poor monsters of Eorzea don't stand a chance against them...it's unfair...

SE Dev2: Well, what are you going to do about it? You are developing this game...you can do whatever you want!

SE Dev: Hmmm....how about....we make mobs throw heavy continuously to the players, even if they're mounted, and they can't get away as fast as they want to for like...I don't know, 20 seconds?

SE Dev2: Wow, that sounds like something that would become annoying in the long run...are you sure about this?

SE Dev: Oh yes...it will be mine...oh yes...it will be mine -troll face-

Heavy makes sense as a debuff for, say, a boss fight where you have to get out of AoEs and the decreased movement speed makes it more challenging. But in the open world, it almost never does anything interesting or presents any kind of legitimate challenge. It's mostly just an annoyance when I am trying to pass through an area and have no intention of fighting at all. I see no harm in at least decreasing the duration of Heavy for some of these mobs.

Heavy was OK while leveling up. It was something you received only here and there because you didn’t always sit on a Mount while exploring the different areas. And it was actually at least a tad dangerous from time to time. But with Item Levels > 100 and people no longer exploring areas but just rushing through them to get somewhere, it has completely lost its meaning and has become nothing but annoying. So I am also all for a Change. Either reduce the chain possibility (x-times Heavy in a row) or make us immune after the first time it was applied or add a new type of potion to the Vendor or a craft for the alchemist which provides immunity for a limited time.

While we are at it, I could also do without the mind-numbing random agro from mobs that are nothing but blowflies for me. This is also a Game Feature which was relevant when you level up because you had to watch where you go and couldn’t just cross dozen of enemies like you do it now.
When I am in the open World nowadays, this is nothing but annoying to me. They can’t hurt me and they do not drop anything that I want. They just take some of my time.

Dunno how it is with you but for me, these constantly aggroing mobs are sometimes stressful. No matter if I just want to go quickly to a Hunt location or do my daily quests, these little buggers are always there waiting to aggro me lol. When I did combat beast tribe quests, I killed more of these random buggers than actual quest objectives.

There are areas in the Game I avoid unless I have to go there for something particular. Western La Noscea with all the splish splash casters and the tedious Sylphs with their bzz bzz Lightning skills all the time..I truly hate them lol. I wish the open World mobs would either be relevant (reads: dangerous) or connected to the player’s Item Level, not its Character level.
