Nightmare is finally over!



Over 2 months, 6 HQ Mahars, and finally 1 Shoni. All fish caught.

Never again.

Does anyone know how gathering affects your chances of landing a fish? Like, is there a big difference between 390 and 400 if the fish doesn't require more than 390 gathering to catch?

Pretty sure it does, but it seems to affect differently for every fish...for example, fish that are extremely slippery such as the matriarch continue to get away brutally even with 400+ gathering...my theory is that the fish that have an extremely low chance to obtain such as the matriarch which must roughly have around 10% chance to be caught can go from 10 with say 350 gathering to 12 or 13 with 400. However, this is pure speculation.

Gathering has no effect on chances to catch a fish - you only need to meet the minimum gathering to be able to catch it.

Perception has a minimum value you must meet to be able to catch a HQ version of that fish and does scale but caps out at 15% - just like mining and botany - only difference is we have no way to increase that through skills like they do.

I don't think this is correct, but none of us can prove it.

Quick note: It also has Fingers listed as 5:00-7:00pm. The window is only 5:00-6:00pm. You're wasting your time after 6:00 which I unfortunately found out after 10 windows or so.

Wrong. Fingers is a 2 hour window. Most of the 1 hour windows on Cat is Hungry are wrong and are actually 2 hour windows. I've caught multiple one hour fish in the 2nd hour.

Fair enough if that is your experience. In my experience it has been dead on and I got to 112/112 in roughly two and half weeks following it. So that is where I put my trust.

Finally got the rod today. Still have Helicoprion to get. Eternal ait for the conditions to be right. Blazing hot has followed Fog/ocast today twice but fell on 12am-8am

Stuck on 3 fish left for complete 100%, one is for the Feast of Famine and it's Kuno for me. When I first learned the method of catching, I figured that if you at least manage to catch Canavan it shouldn't be too hard what with a 24min buff and all but I have long since deemed it to be the hardest one in the game.

Something worth pointing out is that the game determines what will bite on your line at the moment you cast your line, which is what can result in things like casting the line at 5:59pm, getting a bite from Fingers at 6:10pm, and sites like that potentially recording the data for the 6pm window rather than the 5pm one (although, admittedly, I don't know for sure how such sites get their data).
