I'm curious, what do other people do for fun in FFXIV?
I often hear people talking about what they "have to do" like running a dungeon they dislike for the umpteenth time to get a piece of gear, for example, or grinding crafting to achieve something else (I'm guilty of this one myself), or farming items for gil, or any number of other things. It doesn't seem like they're having fun when they talk about these weekly or daily chores and that they're doing them only for the end result, as opposed to actually doing them for the fun of doing the activity itself in the moment.
So... What do you do for fun in FFXIV?
What would you continue to do for no reward other than the pleasure of doing it?
Personally, I enjoy exploring and talking/listening to NPC's. I like going to see if the Victory has changed since last I checked, or finding interesting places, or reading speech bubbles above random NPC's, or patting lonely B rank hunt targets, or just standing/sitting around watching and listening.
I'm not much of a combatant, and crafting and gathering have become a bit more like jobs than fun of late so I can't really say I do much of those for fun.
In 1.xx I also used to seek out and watch the non interactable living critters in the world like birds, butterflies and frogs. I haven't seen them so much in 2.xx so curious if they're still around and I've not noticed or if they were victims of the calamity graphical changes.
I'm just curious about what others do for fun and if anyone has any fun pastimes to share.
This isn't about arguing what is fun and what is not, just sharing what we like.
Let's have fun! ^_^
