LOL, four of the vendor names are German names. It might be the same guy with four retainers on his account. WP was used from bots a lot but I thought it was only for GIL (at some stage they changed trash to no longer drop GIL). Do bots go there to defeat bosses and to open chests? Again and again? I doubt his source are leve quests since you get only one per quest and can only stack up to 99 of them. A bit fishy for sure but maybe he just loves WP VERY much haha.

Oh and the answer to why on Earth somebody may need so many of them is: Desynthesis.

Very fishy, I remember back in the days when people use to SR WP. I would wait until everyone leaves the dungeon, then run back to all the chests and open them to gather the crafting mats, and even then i only have about 20 or so of each. Don't know how in the world he got so many.

Tanking is a job, DPSing is a science and Healing is an art.
If the Tank dies, it's the Healer's fault. If the Healer dies, it's the Tank's fault. If the DPS dies, it's their own damn fault.

Triple turn in leves can get you 3 at a time. With some skill and travel, and a whole lot of time, you can stock up on similar items.

He sold them all at once like that with the INTENTION of crashing the market. It forces other people to either stop selling them, or sell them at those low prices, he can then buy them up, keep prices artificially low for a long time, and then people will give up eventually and he can sell them at whatever prices he wants.

He might have run it 10,000 times since its release ;O

In all seriousness though...doesn't look right.

Also, I'm just going to throw out the fact that I think the Market Board should allow you to either buy 1 out of a stack if you don't need the whole stack..or only allow set amounts of something to be sold. Like it's either 1 thing, or a stack of it. Or stacks of 10, 20, 30, 40, etc.

That is investment most likely. They may sell for what can be considered a lot right now. But by next year, they'll be selling for e.g. 20 million a piece. Two years from now, e.g. 50 million. Three years from now, e.g. 150 million. Etcetera. Inflation in MMO's is insane. And vanity items, especially hard to obtain ones (which get even more rare to obtain in the future, as the low drop chance combined with the content being run less frequently don't increase supply) will always keep having a market.

So if you have the gil right now, it's a worthy investment to buy up such items and see the future profit as a high interest rate. Rather than simply stocking up gil. After all, 3 years down the road 6 million gil is still going to be 6 million gil.

    thats no investment, thats stupidnes

no casual or average player would ever pay 15 mil for a pet, not now and not in 3 years

all I can imagine is, that all the nutkins which were bought were also sold from the same person via an alt char. probably a try to push the price.
but losing 5% of the money everytime, when he's buying the nutkin from his alt to trade it back and rebuy it over an over again...

I think so too. You can't make a solid investment when S-E are able to change the game at will. Spending a huge amount of gil on an item with the intention of reselling it many months down the line can easily come back to bite you in the ass when conditions in the game are altered to make that item common and worthless outside of your control.

And yet it works time after time in numerous MMO's. Mass inflation is present in every single MMO, and it's present in FFXIV no different. Over the past year alone already there's a steep incline to be seen on what people are willing to pay for vanity items and consumables. And as the total amount of gil per server keeps steadily increasing, this trend is going to continue ever further.
