I read it all, looking forward to the next chapters in the Coil and Crystal tower storys. Finding out more about Ishgard, as an aside, when Ishgard comes open, I hope we are able to walk across the bridge into ishgard and that it doesn't just zone us into the city just by entering the gate.

My main motivation for clearing both coils wasn't the shinies but seeing the story progress.

To me when they have animations and camera pans it seems only those moments are written with more thought in it. The rest seem completely consequence free blabber. For example the end of haukke manor quest suggests the servant is going to confess his crimes as he has been an accessory in countless murders by not speaking about it. Yet he still sits there in the sunlit bench still like nothing happened.

I mean once the goals of npcs are reached nothing ever happens! Even the dialogue doesn't seem to be aware of your deeds like in XI the way npcs talked to you changed depending on your progress in their quests.

I get that graphics are harder to do but surely the art of writing can't go this badly downhill in one console generation?!
Are the writers just not included on game design these days because it seems their only freedom is to fill speech bubbles instead of being an internal part of the whole game making process?

I read all main story, all side story, and beast tribe promotion quests. I almost never read the text for repeatable quests even once. For in dungeon things I replay cut scenes at a later time and for tam-tara in particular I read everything on reddit.

    I read the main quest.
Can't be arsed to read the generic "Do X because <reasons>" MMO sidequests though.

Read the Tam Tara quest, was funny.. creepy kid... dat laughter during the fight.. :X

I've read about 50% of the main and side quests (except hildebrand, I read all of that). I always read cutscenes. I have dyslexia, so I find that reading 50% of this is pretty good. Also I can understand Japanese, so putting the voice acting as Japanese helps a ton on the parts where there is voice acting (the english voice acting is just terrible lol).

I only read the main story stuff and moogle delivery quests atm. Will read the Rogue/Ninja quest texts when they come out however. Oh, CT/ST I also read (and World of Darkness when the time comes)

I read most of the stuff. Though I admit I didn't read the Ixal and Kobold dailies, because their 'squawking' and 'repeating, replicating, echoing' got annoying after awhile. Couldn't concentrate on the actual message.

Leve quests are a bit 50:50 if I read them or not. Sometimes they have cool stuff like the Quarrymill ones with the moonkeepers, while others just go way over my head.

Voiced cutscenes don't matter much to me, as I have them in french (which I don't speak a word).

    I read it all.
Once I have done a daily or a levequest once I skip it though of course, no point reading the same old junk. I love some of the writing in this game. If people skip it all they are missing out. The Hildi quests and the Goldsmith quests in particular are fantastic. ooOOOoo and the Longhaft ones! :3

    I'm also guilty of this.
