Chocobo Feather Colour Change Problems

Once again, I have tried to change the colour of my chocobo's feathers and though it says he eats the fruit and the colour change will be available in 6 hours, it doesn't give the message that new feathers are growing as it does when they do actually change. I have tried this with O'Ghomoro berries, Mamook Pears and Xelphatol apples yet the same thing occurs. I have tried removing my chocobo from the stable and putting him back into the stable then feeding him again but that doesn't work, either. I have also tried fetching him from the stable, killing monsters, doing F.A.T.E.s but, yet again, the same problem occurs. This is getting to be aggravating and expensive. I've asked several people about it and none of them have any idea why it's happening. Please help.

Just to be sure, you're not fetching your chocobo from the stable before the 6 hours are up? Have you tried feeding it just before logging out for the day to be sure he's in there longer than that?

* No change will occur if chocobos are removed from the stable prematurely. It is recommended to feed them during times when the chocobo can be left stabled for extended periods, such as prior to logging out for the day.

I don't really know why it isn't working. I've done everything properly but for some reason, I am not getting the message that my chocobo ('bo for short) is growing new feathers. If I leave it in the stable for 6 hours anyway, nothing happens despite the message that plumage colour change will be ready in 6 hours. I've gotten some colouring but mean to change it further yet it isn't working. Do I need to begin from scratch yet again?
