People kicking new players for watching cs's.....just stupid.

Let's break down the rewards from the Main Scenario dungeons.
- You get 110 tomes from the duty roulette. This reward is there because fresh level 50s (which are a tiny part of the playerbase) need those dungeons for the story
- You get 100 tomes from the new-player-bonus. This reward is also a result of fresh level 50s that need those dungeons for the story
- You get 20 tomes from the dungeon itself.

As you can see; you get 210 tomes because of the new players. How can anyone in good concience claim to have earned that reward, when they completely ignore the desires of the newcommers? You are biting off the hand that feeds you, but that hand has no power to bite back.

This guy right here nails it, and how anyone could argue with that is beyond me.

Fact is this IS an MMO- meaning interacting with other players is MANDATORY
you get rewards for doing this, and even MORE rewards (not even counting commendations) for helping out newer players

Abusing the TOS by being disrespectful is in itself, terms for being banned.
Respect each other and get rewarded together. If you hate playing with n00bs, then DONT use DF. Use PF and make your own preformed parties.

I already explained that you are being given tomes because of the newcomers.
The ideal result from a main scenario dungeon, would be that the new player(s) leave with the satisfaction of having enjoyed the story, while the other players leave with 230 tomes and the satisfaction of knowing that they made another player have a good time.

Because as far as the system is concerned both rewards are there for 1) reducing the queue and 2) clearing the dungeon. It doesn't care about anything else. That's not an excuse to force people to do speed runs or otherwise verbally assault them for watching the cutscenes, but the reward doesn't mean vets are obligated to do anything for the new player besides help them clear the dungeon. Saying the rewards are reason enough to play nice and let new players experience the magic™ has always been a flimsy argument against the "majority rules" nature of the duty finder.

It would be nice if first-timers got to watch their cutscenes and participate in the fights without having to choose, but if the majority of the group wants to do otherwise that's tough. Just like I'll repeat once more, if the majority decides they want to watch or wait for cutscenes, anyone else who disagrees doesn't have much choice in the matter unless they think they could low-man bosses faster than it would take people to watch.

That is what I am hearing. Well why should one side do it if the other side isn’t even willing to do it? If everyone here is touting about how great Party Finder is, and how you can customize it so you don’t end up with random people who don’t want to play the way you want them too then why doesn't everyone use it??

If it’s so awful to end up with speed runners, or so awful to end up with new players who, god forbid, want to know the bloody story behind what’s going on. Why don’t I see my Party Finder FLOODED with party set ups for what everyone wants to do?! I mean seriously, everyone here is talking about how wonderful, how great; you can play with people who play like you. It must be the bloody oasis in the desert if it’s that good!

Want to know why? It takes time, they sit around, they wait… and obviously people find their time to precious. Everyone here knows this, and they don’t want to have to deal with the wait. So what happens, they blame the other side – why don’t YOU go do this.

As for the “Well we carry them so we can treat them how we want…” comments. Everyone in here on this thread was helped, carried, supported… whatever it is players want to call it. What makes someone who was carried two years ago any more special that someone who was carried two hours ago? Nothing.

It is all a bunch of hypocritical back and forth bull, to help people justify their feelings on treating others like their some lower being, some disease. If people want to keep on going back and forth, trying to justify the mistreatment of players on all sides of the coin, (because don't get it wrong vet's get mistreated too) go ahead. Hope that it makes everyone feel better. Personally all this thread has shown me is that many people in our player base have very low regards for other human beings, and personally I’m appalled.

So go ahead, keep taking about why it’s fine to mistreat others, I’m not going to be involved in such an ugly display of disrespect anymore. I’ll focus on the people in my FC, my friends, and the people I meet in Duty Finder, and hope I can give them a good experience in this game, new or old player. Obviously they need it if they are playing with people like this.

You do realise you cannot que for Main scen roulette as a party? Players do main scenario roullette for the gil and myth. If they made a PF party they would not get that, so would be no reason to do it. New players run them for the story and completing the 2.0 main questline. Something which you can still obtain when queing for the 2 dungeons as a pre-made party.

I do it because, for me, Praetorium is still my most fave dungeon in game, the myusic and the mix of advanced tech gives me the most final fantasy vibe of them all. Would love for a hard version with Garlean themed gear drops from it.

Yes I do know this, and that is why I was being highly sarcastic in that post by saying PF is an oasis in a desert... People on this thread are telling others 'if you want to do this or play xyz way them make PF'. But none of them are willing to do the same. Why? Because it's long, annoying, time consuming and you get no myth or credit for it!

That was my point. Don't ask or tell others to do what they wouldn't do.

NO ONE should EVER kick anyone for watching CS. Don't tell ppl to watch cs in the book in inn room. You still miss stuff. Let new ppl enjoy the story. I'm a Legacy, and I would never complain about someone wanting to see cs.

You get the extra myth for helping them through the dungeon, not abusing them and rushing them through content.

Also, yes you should always prioritize newer players. Sorry, but their first-time experience and learning takes priority over your iLv100-hardcore-"my time is precious" experience. Just how it is. And that's not just good MMO advice, that's good advice for life. Remember that.

In the long run, by actually showing patience and helping them, you'll be helping yourself. This may come as a surprise, but an MMO is designed to have players rely on EACH OTHER. That means you rely on others as much as they rely on you, despite what you may think. Ever wonder how that lv 45 tank got to lv 45 and is so bad? And now you're running the worst dungeon of your life. Want better players in PvP, or extreme trials, or coils? You'd be amazed how a little kindness and patience goes a long way, and gets paid forward. At all levels.
