Suggestion: Moogle Mail friends on Alphabetical Order

I don't know if someone already made a post about this, I am quite surprised if no-one did it before but I can't find it anyway, but here goes.

I have a HUGE friendslist. I use the Moogle Mail system quite regularly. However, it's really hard for me to find certain people I need in that friendslist. Right now it's oldest friends to newest friends, but I sometimes notice that people aren't in the right spot (where they usually are). For example, one of my latest added friends was near the top of the list all of a sudden.

Could there be an option implemented to sort your friends in alphabetical order, or a textfield where we can type the first few letters or First/Last name so it automatically finds the people you need? This would make the mailing system so much easier to use!

    Thanks for reading

Agreed. This would be a nice QoL change.

The Social window (player search, friend list, black list), Free Company Member list, Linkshell member list, should all sort names alphabetically. It's the standard way lists of names are sorted nearly everything and everywhere. People expect such listings to be sorted this way. Finding a person in an unsorted list is incredibly difficult.

In Japanese, words are generally alphabetized phonetically, as though they were written in the phonetic kana syllabary, regardless of which type of characters are actually being used. Kanji characters, however, generally have multiple possible pronunciations and (particularly on names, where pronunciation is less standardized) it may be difficult for software to accurately determine their kana equivalent so that it can know how to alphabetize them as Japanese viewers would expect. (There is actually a standard way to "alphabetize" all Unicode characters, but due to this phonetic pattern it only works properly in Japanese if all the words being alphabetized are written in the same kana script, whereas I believe names here can involve a mix of hiragana, katakana, kanji, and the Latin alphabet.)

I do still agree with this suggestion, because it would at least be useful to players throughout the rest of the world, but I expect this difficulty in making it match what their Japanese audience would want is likely the reason this wasn't there from the beginning.

And even for the Japanese, Unicode ordering would at least be better than completely random. It would group kana spelled names together (alphabetized correctly among themselves), group Latin alphabet names together (alphabetized the way Westerners would expect and some Japanese might know depending on their familiarity with English or other Western European languages), and would group kanji written names together. Just that much is better than they currently have.
