people dont complain about it for various reasons

    a) they tried and since they didnt get anything after days even weeks of farming they used the alternate route, which is my case
    b) they are not in these forums
    c) they are aldut and understand that if you dont like something nobody forces you to do it, thus either they quit playing or see a)

In other words, if you dont like something you either put up with it, move on, or leave, complaining is silly, you can say you are not happy but it should really stop there, programers did this for a reason, frankly spending weeks months at end and hope that my luck will change is not something I am willing to do when I play a game that is supposed to relax me.

Stop complaining and just move on or accept that you accepted to suffer and just move on

I think the feeling many have is more like nausea.... headaches... coma... from the mindless, repetitve, grind of content that's been overused since launch for far too many things.

...the mindless, un-fun grind with hours, days and possibly weeks of zero progress, will be replaced by a feeling of accomplishment and progress is more like it.

Tokens may be a grind, but its a grind with progress that is guaranteed. Make it hard and require a ton of tokens if you want, but I'll take those over stupid, lazy programmer RNG anyday. If I wanted to gamble I'd go to a casino.

But, I dont gamble.. which is why I've not touched ATMA and wont while its pure RNG bs.

I wouldn't mind ATMA farming if I can let my chocobo out while waiting on queue -which is the best time for me. As it stands the hours of grind for 1 ATMA drop just isn't a good use of my time. Especially since you have to do it 12 times and only for and ilv100 weapon with no stat increase.

There are other alternatives for the time being. I wonder if they'll add a i110+ weapon that can be purchased with the new tome? Or will they an another ___ of time to upgrade our soldiery weapons further?

I'd like to congratulate all who attacked me claiming i or my friend didn't do the hard work, you proved my point exactly; That you are ignorant and unobservant to anyone's problems but your own, that you ignore things said to you, and that your opinion is not worthy of observation.

Maybe next time read the opening post and see that I'm not the one having issues getting the atma's, rather its other people that i spend time with in-and-out of party with cleaning up fates in zones for as many hours as possible not getting them.

But again, thank you for doing exactly what I and others knew you would. You've shown to everyone who actually has a vested interest in the enjoyment of the game what servers to avoid.

But SE has plenty of cookies for you. You just have to roll a high enough score.

The best advice so far is from Tsuwu "Less whine, more grind."
2 people putting in 5 hours every day for 4 weeks and only one of them getting 2 complete sets is not fair.

Yes it is, but I understand why you don't think it is. The human mind is wired to find order. You cannot find order in the atma drop. But the number of gc seals you accumulate is enviable.

Why does it have to be fair? I'm sure my own raid team didn't find it fair that I received the weapons for my SCH and MNK really early (2 kills on SCH, first kill after switching to MNK) while our SMN hasn't seen the book in 18 weeks. Life isn't fair.

People's opinion is worth as much as your own. You're crazy to think that only your opinion matters.

    Discuss!
At the time Atma came out, there were only three options to get high level weapons (two of which have better stats than the Atma weapon).

    1. Atma weapon.
    2. Leviathan weapon (the fight is easy, so it's better to just do Leviathan. If you get a Mirror, score!)
    3. Un/weathered weapons (on 2.2, you could only gets UAT's and Sands from T7 and T8)
    (4. I suppose we could argue the Allagan and Extreme Primal weapons are better than the Atma as well)

So yeah. Back in 2.2, your only options were to grind for Atma or do challenging fights (the latter being more favourable because you were actually rewarded with something). Plus, when you compare the previous Relic quest to the Atma quest... it really makes the devs who made the Atma grind appear to be very lazy. Getting the Relic was fun and rewarding! Getting the Atma was not, nor was it rewarding (congrats, you got an item level 100 Zenith).

Do you really want yet another "kill things until you have X tokens. Turn in tokens."
This grind at least provides variety and something outside the token spam that people blaze through and then abandon.
It's something that a vast majority of the player base can still do together, regardless of what point they're at in endgame.
It's exciting, and I actually enjoy it
Yeah, it's commonplace to groan when fate 89 still doesn't drop that damn Atma of the Scales.
And to commiserate when your buddy is on a 3 hour drought.
But by constantly nerfing everything, the fun will be replaced with monotonous token slaving.

With zero ability to affect your chances per fate, I don't see how the gambler's high is an issue either. It eventually drops, and you switch zones. There's nothing else to it.
I've seen atmas drop for party member on their first fate in a zone, and inversely it could be over 200 in another zone without it really mattering to me (except that that zone's fates will have gotten especially dull)--I'd just rather a few weren't shunted to twice or thrice the average number of total fates to complete their set. I'd much rather have an illusion of RNG that brings the total number within a max range of 200 (300 to 500 fates total, etc.), or else (or in addition) have variance in other manners, wherein, for example, certain FATEs have hidden links to others and there is an actual element of guesswork or gambling.

A tool allegedly meant to help newer or more casual players to (re)merge with current endgame ranks does not function as such when it springboards a random few and leaves another random few well behind. (And if it were to ever truly be a means of bringing players back into the fold, it probably even ought to have a way to help people with their atma collection beyond the mere accelerating of their FATEs.)

Tldr; Fine with same time spent, not so much with the range of deviation. Or it could be shortened, idc; Animus grind is long enough as is. Could also just be a more entertaining process. Whatever.
