Hello all,

It's been a while since i played FFXIV and i was thinkning of picking it up for the PS4 and was wondering if anyone would recommend it?
Also if there is specific place to find resources (info) about most populated PS4 server and how to find a nice relaxed casual guild or casual RP guild (although not sure if this is even done on PS4).

Not even sure if this is the correct place to post.

Anyhoo any help would be great as really looking to find another game to get my teeth in to.

All players share worlds so no there isn't really a most populated server excetp the ones that were added at the ps4 launch of the game possibly.

Hook a usb keyboard to it and you'll be fine. As for finding a relax guild post on the worlds forum or look for shouts in game. For RP there is one world that is the unofficial RP world iirc os chances are you will find people there.

I'd invite you to cerberus and our children of light FC but you haven't stated where in the world you are so consider that in picking your world. Cerberus is EU focused so expect EU times for most activity.

I've played all three versions of the game; right now I play mostly on the PS4. The game looks good and runs well on the PS4, only a gaming PC will probably run it better.

I definitely second that you should get a USB keyboard, as the virtual keyboard for the PlayStation can be very tedious and in situations with other players take way to long. When you do get a keyboard, remember to check the "Direct Chat" box (Character settings -> General) so that anything you type will automatically enter into the chat box. In the meantime you can make macros of commonly used phrases like /p Hello! /p This is my first time here. and /p Thank you for the party. I still use these macros, despite having a keyboard as its easier to hit a button than drop my controller to type.

The unofficial roleplay server is Balmung. You can look for a LS here or here. Please be aware that Balmung is an extremely popular server, and that you will likely not be able to make a character on it on the weekend. The servers are periodically shut for character creation based on the number of players logged in, so during prime play times like weekends and evenings popular servers are normally closed. To make a character on Balmung you will probably have to wait until some time mid week and during the early morning. The list for current character creation restrictions is here, however, the actual restrictions change more frequently than the list is updated. Still watching the list may help you plan when to try to create a character.

If you don't want to go through that hassle, you can probably get in fairly easily on one of the newer servers like Zodiark or Jenova. These servers were added with the game's PS4 launch, so they have a higher than normal population of console players.

Hey,

Thank you for the replies, i'm in the UK so once i have the game downloaded and my subscription sorted i will jump in and get my bearings again then look at Free Companies (Guilds?).

I didnt realise console and PC were on the same servers as it doesnt usually happen like that, so thats good.

Free Companies are the FFXIV equivalent of Guilds. Linkshells (LS) are permanent private chat channels that you have to be invited to. Linkshells tend to based around certain goals, like hunts, role playing, treasure maps etc, but can be used for anything. Glad to be of assistance.

The difference between playing this game on PS3 and PS4 is night and day
and there are other great games on PS4 out as well
I believe when ARR came to PS4 they opened up new servers and much of the PS4 player base moved to those.
I don't recall any of them but think Jenova was one of them and they did have PS4 only Free Companies if i recall

Not really. Those were just made available at the time. INo transfers were possible and frankly I don't know anyone that upgraded from the PS3 to the PS4 that left to those servers. They are all still hapily playing with their friends.
