There are many atma threads popping up lately and I wanted to share some insight into the subject. I love FFXIV as well as the Final Fantasy franchise (yes even the 13s.) all Final Fantasy games have what I like to call "branches." Paths less traveled. It's what give the games that exploration feel to them. Some of these games have so many of them that to explore them all would take too much of my life away in order for me to explore them all. Granted that doesn't mean I have to explore them all, I would just very much like to.
My point? Some players have desired to explore every aspect of a Final Fantasy game out of addiction which has led to some very bad results:

...Yea. SE took a lot of heat from a lot of people for this. Some of you who have played ffxi probably remember this incident. The boss the article is referring to was virtually ignored by 99.9% of the player community because of the comically ridiculous amount of so-called "dedication" it took to defeat the boss. But a small group was so addicted to getting the super rare drops, that it took a toll on their real life health.
Now granted, atmas don't require that a player sit down in front of a monitor for 18 hours non-stop to acquire, but they are such a low drop rate in the eyes of many players, that many players don't bother going after them because real life doesn't allow for it. This results in content that developers put time and effort into crating, just for players to ignore it. After all, there are weapons that rival the relic path weapons that are much faster to get.
To me it seems that the question shouldn't be "Is the drop rate too low/high?" I think that real question should be "What would make it fun for everyone?" My solution (and feel free to disagree with me) is tweak the atma drop system in such a way that friends can help eachother improve their chances. It's what I did for my FC when I became the first to finish T5 of binding coil. I took that knowledge of T5 and helped them finish it themselves. Please share your thoughts.
