What kind of messed up reasoning has this 'gimme gimme gimme I deserve everything for existing' culture given you? The game isn't broken. It's -random-. Get out there and grind if you want it so badly, instead of begging SE to hand you everything on a silver platter.

    Yes, because only naive people think Skynet isn't real, and is just simply science fiction. This game is sentient and self-aware and likes to pick favorites just to spite other human beings.

    I think what he is saying (i'm not a mind reader so please take this with a grain of salt,) is that the atma drop system favors the obsessed players. Those who have the best chance of getting something because they spend a life absorbing amount of time on it.

    RNG is RNG. Like you said. Didn't require any skill, just luck.

    Atma needs to be changed, end of the story. I am one of the players that can easily get an atma drop in less than an hour and I think there needs to be a change.

    How long as Atma been out? People with average luck complete one Atma weapon in 25~45 hours time or 400~700 fates.

    6 months => 24 weeks
    =>4032 hours - 960 hours (work full time)
    =>3072 hours - 1344 hours (sleep 8 hours)
    =>1728 hours - 450 hours (10 atma weapons in hours)
    => 1278 hours

    So we end up with a guesstimate of 1278 hours total left over to do other things. Now this is a crude calculation but given the amount of time Atma has been out it's quite easily possible to attain 10. Even if you decide that it'll take 90 hours per Atma (which is more than it takes to complete Animus) you still have over 800 hours of non-FFXIV time to do other things.

    So if you work full time, have kids, and life and still don't have 10 Atma weapons..what are you even doing?

    Or just putting in 3 hours a night for 2 weeks and completing your Atma weapon.

    It took me over 10 hours to farm the Atma of the Fish for one character of mine. For another character, he's still working on his a combined 24 hours of farming for the Atma that drops in Western Thanalan. This is not hyperbole. I actually spent 10 hours farming for a single Atma. I've had to take breaks from Atma farming in order to keep what remains of my sanity.

    The RNG can provide swift results for some people, or the extreme opposite for others. And when the results are painfully slow, it just doesn't feel rewarding.

    So while I'm not against RNG, I would not complain if they were to adjust the RNG to be less frustrating in the case of Atma.

    I don't like references to "hours" spent farming. Your odds aren't on a per hour basis. They're on a per FATE one. How many FATES did you do? It took me 360 FATES for my 1st Atma weapon. Decided to work on a 2nd and I've been pretty lucky so far: 5 Atma in 40 FATES.

    My point is just that maybe some of the people for whom it takes so many hours actually aren't very fast at getting from FATE to FATE. That could definitely skew the numbers. For me personally, it's never taken more than 5 hours for a single ATMA (it was about 150 FATES). The drop rate seems to be about 3% so if you were on average doing 10-20 FATEs an hour, it wouldn't take you more than 3 hours per ATMA or 36 hours for all 12.

    These are just estimates and of course there might be outliers (heck I myself could be a lucky outlier) but regardless time spent is still irrelevant, it just makes fast FATE grinders seem "lucky" when in reality they might be getting to more FATEs. Anyway, whether or not this is an outrageous time investment is entirely subjective. My personal opinion is no but I admit I might feel differently if I was slow at running FATEs and it took me twice the amount of time.

    I did every single FATE that popped in that zone for the Atma of the Fish.

    For ten hours.

    You just got lucky that you didn't have to do that many FATEs for one weapon.
