What is preventing you from working on it casually the way that it is right now? It was always intended to be long-term content.
Same feelings. When I restarted the Atma step again for my BRD, I got the first two Atma's pretty quick (within ten minutes), after that, though... the horror.
I could learn BLU spells in FFXI faster (I would learn maybe three-five spells every three hours) than I could get Atma in this game. My BLU in FFXI knows (excluding most Unbridled spells) every spell on this list. Especially the useless spells: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Blue_Mage#Spell_List
Because it's RNG. As I said either here or on the other thread, I decided to spend three hours a day trying to get Atma. I was in Eastern Thanalan for around four-five days.

Amused, after seeing your complaining about atma in one thread for ages, then saying it's absolutely fine after you got them all, i'm not sure how seriously i can take your posts on here. :/
However, working on it casually, i'm sure someone did the math of this somewhere, would take an INSANELY long time. I'm sure even casual players want to get stuff done.
Learning BLU spells was actually really enjoyable to me, the excitement when you see the mob use the move, then the anticipation of seeing if you learnt it. I left when level cap was still 90, but I'd learnt all the spells up to that point.I could learn BLU spells in FFXI faster (I would learn maybe three-five spells every three hours) than I could get Atma in this game. I actually used to learn them for my wife's BLU. She found them stressful and annoying. I found them fun and relaxing. Perhaps this is why Atma grinds don't bother me and why I don't have much empathy for those who don't have the patience required for it.
That was half a year ago, and I already responded to the person who decided it was a good idea to sift through my posting history just to dig it up. Thanks for choosing to drag it into yet another thread so you can use it as another ad hominem argument yet again.
I do not have them all. I specifically said that I only have Novus for Paladin, and that I've only just recently finished a set of 12 for Ninja, as well as that I've begun collecting yet another set because I want to build up the relic weapons for every job. I am in no way close to being done.
[citation needed]
I worked on my second set, the one for Ninja, casually. I only did FATEs when I was in queue for Syrcus Tower, Frontlines, and Wolve's Den.

I realise that. But the fact stands, you cannot vehemently oppose atma while YOU are stuck on it, then decide it's fine for everyone else when you've completed that one.
Anyway, nevermind.
Atma is fine. Stay on dat grind.
Nothing beats doing 600 ish FATEs for dat 9th atma.
But I AM still stuck on it. You're making this into a circular argument because you can't refute what people have to say against your opinion.
A person can't change their mind? Really? That's what you're going with? Once you have an opinion on something, you're stuck with it for life?
@Aegis
Learning blue magic at level 1 was pretty frustrating though, as you could not raise your BLU skill level unless you used BLU magic (more BLU skill meant better chance at learning BLU magic, for those who do not know). Though once you learn your first spell, it was an amazing feeling. Aside from trying to learn the first spell, the only part I think I hated the most was when I tried to learn Blue Magic from beastmen, since they have a massive move list depending on what Job they were (Tonberry's especially. Light of Penance was a nightmare to learn because the Tonberry would never use it... they LOVED to use Throat Stab, though). But yeah, forgot to mention that learning Blue Magic was a fun experience. Atma, however, is not.
Yes, learning Blue Magic was entirely RNG as well, however, to learn the magic, you needed the mob to use their ability. If they used their ability, then there was a chance you would learn it. If your skill level was high enough, you'd learn it pretty quick. Atma, however, lacks all of that. No monster in a FATE has 'Atma Lights' attacks. There's also no 'combat skill levels' in XIV to make the drop rate higher. It's just purely RNG urgh times.
