but... but... I can slip the small one in my pocket real easy and still a breather. XL are too big for my pocket. lol
I've broken the L & R buttons by sticking my DS lite into my pocket, and I have a younger brother who is currently having his normal sized 3DS fixed because he shoves it into his pocket (His pockets are pretty small though). I bought a case for it since I don't want to risk it breaking again :/

Safe mode is 800x600 in vista and higher
and if you change it while in safe mode it will remain at a higher resolution unless you select the vgasave boot option,
That said, you are only hurting your own experience by continuing to use such a low resolution, when doing so restricts screen real estate for macros and ui windows. (good luck reading the map while trying to find stuff)
Safe mode in Vista still 600x480. I'm using Vista Ultimate on my home desktop PC.Safe mode is 800x600 in vista and higher

Yeah so what about low resolution mode inside of boot menu. This is in windows 7.Safe mode is 800x600 in vista and higher

I'm having tremendous trouble trying to figure out how someone could possibly comfortably run FFXIV at that low resolution. Even on PS3, it's 720p--While downsizing the GUI makes for more room on the screen, the font and icons become difficult to read. Maybe a lower resolution might be playable, but... I'm 95% sure Square Enix chose not to go that low of a resolution because of the display room... everything would become messy & jumbled on the screen. Not to mention in the Crystal/Syrcus Tower Raids, two additional windows are automatically displayed for the two other alliance members, and THOSE are always in my way as it is (although, I'm sure there's an option to turn them off... I realized I never pay attention to them much anyway until recently, so I never really checked). Not to mention all of the other character's names blend in with one another on the screen... maybe there's a way to downsize those as well; I know there's an option to shorten player's display names, at least.
My advice to you: Play the game in 1080p. You'll get used to it in about a week. Get over the "retro" feel of it, because that's more than 20 years ago. FFXIV was MEANT to be played in 1080p; that's how it was intended. Otherwise, you're GOING to encounter problems.
