FFXIV flashing in taskbar when duty is found

Hi there.

Often enough I've found myself wishing that, when I minimize FFXIV on the PC while being signed up in the Duty Finder, I would receive some sort of notification if a duty was found, in order not to accidentally miss it.

I've no idea how hard it would be to make this a reality from a programmer's view, I just know that some games nowadays have a similiar function, and it's very useful.

Sometimes queues just take so long that I'll look through the internet (sometimes this forum [like right now]) to pass some time, only to find that I missed the queue while I wasn't looking.


I'm curious if other people would welcome something like this as well.

This would be convenient. As it is you can enable sound to play while the game is minimized, but sometimes you don't want to listen to all the background noise/music while you wait, and you don't want to shut it off when you'll want it back when you return to playing. I've done the same thing maaany times.

It's rather easy to implement coding/development wise just probably not on their top 10 list of things to do. I'm semi spoiled running dual monitors so I can do other things while waiting on Que's.

Sadly, this only works if you play in windowed mode. If you use full screen, it auto-minimizes when you tab out of the game.

I play in windowed mode with the game sized to fill the screen anyway (custom size is not quite 1920x1080 but close). I get the best of both worlds, since I can dock my browser to the left and still see the game in the background where the duty confirmation pops up on the right. But for someone that just can't stand seeing the taskbar and title bar while they play, you can just swap to windowed mode after queueing up, and then swap back to full screen when you see the duty confirmation.

I really hope SE will consider this, it would make waiting in queue a lot more bearable - and it would prevent a lot of queues from being missed, I'm sure.

If you have any old 4:3 lcd monitors sitting around or can get one for cheap, I highly recommend using that as a second monitor to browse the web while playing.

Better yet, give me a function that sends me a text message to a cell number (simple as an email SE, come on!)

Since missing 3 queues in a day will now be penalized, this thread of mine has become more relevant and I would really like to see this implemented to prevent myself and others from accidentally missing queues in the future, and to avoid getting locked out of DF for whatever period of time SE has in mind for this.
