Is the next expansion gonna be a big update or will it have to be bought and downloaded? I've been wondering this quite a bit and can't find out anything about it. >.<

At this point, all we know about the expansion with any certainty is that it will be 3.0.
As for any other details.... Please look forward to it.
I'd venture to guess it'll need to be bought.
You most likely wont have to buy it
As far as i remember that comment was made concerning 1.0 players and the fact that when upgrading to the 2.0 client that it would be provided free of charge instead of having to purchase the game a second time, Any expansions following that however are likely going to require players to purchase them.
In addition considering the WoD expansion for WoW is priced at $49.99 U.S. for the standard edition or $69.99 U.S. for the digital deluxe edition, i wouldn't be surprised if SE followed a similar model.

.
ARR was 39.99 at release for PS4, so I don't see an expansion topping that. However, you are right that it will need to be purchased with at least 2 different price points for varying reasons. As far as i remember that comment was made concerning 1.0 players and the fact that when upgrading to the 2.0 client that it would be provided free of charge instead of having to purchase the game a second time, Any expansions following that however are likely going to require players to purchase them.
