They did server merges in the latter stage of Version 1 (Balmung was originally Besaid and Fabul).
IIRC, the priority goes to the oldest character.
I hope they would go by who was active or who was played during certain dates, how can you tell what character was made first? we looked up her character name and she was at the bottom, she's saving up for a personal house, sorry if it comes off as me saying FFXIV ARR is dying just thinking about the future server merges do happen.
I noticed you brought up the ver 1 merges, I like how you did the explanation, thank you for that. I have even done a search for my main character (not the one showed as my avatar)and noticed that mine was at the bottom of the list, does that make it the first one made? or is it just listed randomly?
Check achievement history, set to sort by oldest. Most people get their first achievement (Storyteller I or whatever) on their first day.I hope they would go by who was active or who was played during certain dates, how can you tell what character was made first? we looked up her character name and she was at the bottom, she's saving up for a personal house, sorry if it comes off as me saying FFXIV ARR is dying just thinking about the future server merges do happen.

Not everyone thinks alike for names. I've made alts with names I thought for sure would've long been taken but pleasantly surprised when they came up as usable. It helps a ton we're using First/Last names finally in MMO land, so unless its seriously a very generic name there might be some hope on that end. As for housing, if its some-odd years in the future, we've already doubled and perhaps even doubled again in terms of availability. I think the same system I was thinking about for 30-day abandonment could work here too; give people a voucher of the same plot/house type and they can get another place - only concern is items within being transferred to the new server NPC holder. Not ideal but not a total loss.
Now of course looking on the bad end of things, flames razing the forums, cats and dogs living together, that kinda stuff could very well happen too lol...

Maybe OP's reading the old server merge news here:

What linkshell is what? The Propaganda LS? Stop reading every BS random people without any clue write in game and start following the official forums and twitter.

Like i stated before.
better to ask and find out if anyone else has heard anything about it than just sit and wonder.. especially since it would be a big thing and it was said in more than one LS.
but then i forgot how stupid some forum members are :l
@Midori - I hope that also, its pretty dead even in our peak hours.

I kinda wish they would, our server seems pretty dead lately. Here's to hoping 2.4 will liven it up.

On the contrary, I kinda wish the old legacy server splitted again. I kinda missed my Lindblum. In fact, most of the old server names kinda kewl.![]()
