    I'm not even getting the message that the colour is changing. I've also tried what you suggest and nothing. I'm very frustrated and feel like the dev team is ignoring my reports.

    Maybe try to take him out and kill mobs with him. If you finish one of the weekly challenges {Bosom Buddies} it might reset his data.
    Your right something has to be messed up if you cant change his color from the starting yellow.
