A Wild Retainer Appears!

So i was off mining some cobalt ore for a friend and saw this.





He walked around for a good 30 seconds mining, saying random things, before he stopped and said. " Well, looks like i'm done here." and teleported off.

If anyone else has similar pictures or stories lets hear em!

Ya know, I'm beginning to think that while that npc does wear the standard starting retainer gear, that he isn't actually a retainer out doing their job. I say that because it's always the same guy. I've seen him a few times on my normal mining route as well.

I think it's more likely that it's actually Hildebrand's father, at least the appearance certainly seems to be quite similar if not exact. And given his father is a renown crafter, it would make sense the man also gathers his own materials when he needs to. That would also account for his incredible strength too.

At least, that's my theory.

I've seen them quite a bit. I even saw one in the wolves den once. He walked up to the vendor, the vendor greeted him and then a moment later the retainer used return. Neat feature but I do kinda wish they at least wore the gear you put on them, since the community team had stated they are supposed to be the retainers you sent out on ventures.

Oh never seen anything like this. Interesting. Must be one of the small suprises by the devs. So those supposed to be random retainers doing their stuff?

that is not retainer...that is Hildibrand's father Godbert, the man can beat a chimera naked with his goldsmith hammer

No, we've seen Hildibrand's father, that's not him. I think they are 'random retainers' in that they are just NPCs showing us 'retainers at work'. Sort of like how you now see members of a certain Company everywhere if you've finished the story so far. Just a little thing, nothing big.

I can remember they said in one of the newer patchnotes (around 2.3) that we can see our retainers now when they are on their duty to find stuff...
I think thats what you see on those pictures, sadly i myself never had such a great meeting!

Have any of you noticed the retainers out and about in certain field areas gathering for their masters?
After patch 2.3 we made it possible to see them gathering in the field, so next time you’re gathering, the person next to you might just be someone’s retainer!
