^honestly not a bad way to go so long as the resource nodes didn't give a PVE benefit.

I've thought extensively about having a PVP Zone & it'd be interesting if gather-points gave materials which let us craft PVP sets.

    Perhaps make them untradable.

Problem is they'd likely have to be gatherable while not a Gatherer & you run into the issue of alliances monopolizing the zone.

Why I'm now more in favor of Arena's, besides how I think they would be an interesting touch for the landscape/immersion.

I was thinking more along the lines of resource key items to complete quests/dailes for a set amount of wolf marks, gil and exp. Maybe have it determine your fort's defense. Since the Carteneau Plains lore is already established they can expand on it and make it more interactive instead of just capture the flag or arena type.

Though, thinking on it now, it won't work, simply because of how easy it is to change factions in this game. No one likes to lose and no one likes to be on the losing side either. It'll fail quick unless they lock you into whatever faction which will never fly with our. . ."community". . .it also wouldn't be good dev time spent since we're a major minority in this game.

^yeah there are likely too many issues with faction representation. Neat idea while it lasted though ;P

I seriously stand by this Arena's suggestion, it seems to be the only agreeable solution since so many PVE'rs hate the idea of Zones.

You can even add title icons next to your name to show that you Prestige.

This satisfies both parties, those who just want to glamour and those who are really dedicated and will rank up multiple times to gain new and more abilities and titles. Once they fix this then they can work on adding more content. I don't want a competition between PvP and PvE for which I should dedicate my grind time to.
The rank up system is fine -- those who are ranking up for glamour are ranking up. People who PvP religiously will PvP regardless of their rank, which would shoot to 40 in time.

The real problem is queue times. People get discouraged when queue times are over 30 mins long; their time is better spent doing something else rather than waiting close to one hour or more for a 15-20 min match. The problem will rectify itself with 2.4 -- a new rank cap and new rewards will keep people interested for a couple of months. Once new rules and more PvE elements are added, it'll be fine.

They really should alleviate queue times by making Frontlines less restrictive.

Letting us queue under either our FC-GC Affiliation or our own GC, whichever would result in a faster queue would go a long way & permit us to party with anyone in our FC (a huge win in my book) at minimum.

I could care less about the Lore arguments at this point, not being able to Frontline with many of my FC mates or friends is weak.

Exactly. If people knew that they only needed to PvP for a short time to get a glamour ONLY then more people will do it. Right now the grind is still intense, keeping people away from it along with the stigma of people who win-traded their way to 40 running amok. 2.4 will only solve it for the first month or two before the grind kicks in again an people get turned off it again.

The problem with PvP is that the 'hook" is very weak. First 10 ranks are basically given to you in 4-5 FL runs then after that you hit a wall. Its at that point people choose to either stop or keep going. If the "wall" was at lets say 25 or even 30 then people will notice that they are close to their goal and will continue to strive even if its a heavy grind. Its at this point people think that making progress is viable in PvP and will continue to do so, thus reducing queue times.

Also Toodles does bring up a good point about GC restrcitions. Maybe the new PvP changes in 2.4 will allow FC vs FC. That may result in more people PvPing.

People would be out zerging, camping, and all that bullcrap that makes you turn into a raging-basement dwelling-hardcore-keyboardwarrioring PVPer deluxe!

I would totally LIVE in that zone! lol
Ressource gathering and Fate in pvp zone ? That's genius.
People that are not interested in pvp would suddenly join the pvp zone (as collateral damage ).
Though bringing back danger in harvesting/mining would not be a bad idea

There is the Wolf's Den and Frontline for PvP, why ask for more? I am ok with changes that do not influence PvE in any way but making arenas or dedicated zones, even if tiny, is stealing the space imo. I like to explore every angle of a map and I can't because there is an arena I can't enter unless I want to be afraid to be killed.

Why not keep it in instances, why litter the maps with PvP areas? It's bad enough that time and resources have to be used to cater to PvPers, time and resources that could be used for REAL content. There are enough PvP centered games out there, leave the ones that do not serve the stereotype.

I would agree with Arena only if it is a public spectator sport in the lore, and we are allowed to place bets on who we think are going to win, I don't think a MMORPG has done that yet

I kind of like how it is currently. PvP specific rewards that are only "useful" in PvP. It is an "Opt In" PvP, not something you have to try to avoid or remember to "unflag".

I think a PvP Open World Zone would be kind of fun. Have Fates, Instances, Protect a Caravan missions, Attack a caravan mission, etc. but have it a separate "dead end" zone that would not be a required passthrough to get to somewhere.

I like the idea of a Coliseum where its either like the current Wolves Den but you can have anywhere from 1 - 2 - 4 - 6 - 8 player teams battling it out or even a "Survival mode" where its you against waves of battles with ladder ranking (this could also be observed). In all the arenas that cn be observed, it would be nice if the Observation Room would be linked to the Golden Saucer in such a way that players could place bet's on the outcome.

Lots of potential in the development of the PvP, I'm excited to see where they go with it.
