    I feel you.

I realize PVP is secondary (or tertiary even) in focus, this game & FF in general aren't particularly known for it...

The game won't be built from the ground-up for it & there's clearly not enough support for wPVP to even be implemented in a full-scale sense.

So my goal is receive it in the small-scale for the playground/sandbox factor, this is supposed to be a "theme park" MMO after all.

Give us the option to play around with it or have duels, the people have spoken--they don't want PVP zones or wPVP whatsoever for that matter...

So let's compromise & get some arena's for ourselves, it's better than nothing IMHO.

And for the naysayers who hate PVP, would it really be so harmful to you to give us a small space in a small handful of zones to play around in?

Heck, it may even enhance the immersion to see fighter's training against one another from a spectator's perspective in the outer-world (so long as its consolidated to key areas).

What naysayers? Up to the point that you made that comment no one has really said no or disagreed with you, minus the person you told to stop trolling. Two of us said, as long as it doesn't interfere with PvE we don't mind if SE adds more because this isn't just our game. One said that SE has already compromised by putting in two forms of PvP and we will get more later, and Jodou simply explained their point of view as a PvP'er and how it works (or doesn't work well) in this game. So who is being a naysayer?

I hope you were just saying that in general, and not to any of us.

As I said, if there is enough support and SE wants to do it, go for it... But I do agree with Jodou. This game just isn't built for it, and it doesn't seem like people who play this game play it for the PvP... it dies pretty quickly. But as I said before, if enough PvP'er want it, then best of luck at getting more.

Look, I've seen enough MMOs by now to know what works, and unless the game is built from the ground up with PvP in mind; it does not work. Zones dedicated to world PvP are boring and repetitive. World PvP should happen naturally and it's that added sense of danger/risk everytime you step out of town that makes good PvP games great.

If anything this game is severely lacking, it's risk in the world. Sadly, my breed of player died long ago when MMOs went mainstream.
Exactly there are no good PVP MMO games anymore they simply just don't make them anymore.

There are a few that tried. And well frankly tanked due to not being able to keep subscribers. :/

This is a fine idea Toodles, which I would love to see implemented. I can't imagine any gameplay downside to the ideas you've proposed. Plus I'll take any help I can to get to rank 40 :P Some PvP FATEs might do the trick.

I actually like this suggestion, if it's handled properly. So long as the areas are small and not, say, a full zone that people who don't want to PVP would be restricted from entering, why not? In fact it reminds me of Lineage 2, which while having possible open-world PVP, heavily discouraged it with its karma system. So there were small "arenas" where you could enter and PVP freely, fenced-in areas which allowed spectators to watch from outside. Crossing the threshold of that area enabled it, leaving again disabled it, nice and restricted so that nobody felt forced just because they were passing through. Something small-scale like that could be fun.

Thanks! I personally stand by this suggestion because it's practically harmless, could actually serve to enhance the immersion, & is realistic (I could SE actually implementing this, since it doesn't require much in terms of development vs. say entire servers or zones).

It saddens me so many PVE'rs will actually go out of their way to argue against it, just because they don't like PVP.

This is an idea that while it sounds nice and decent, will never happen currently. Much like Jodou said, if the framework for the game wasn't built around PvP already, it's going to be very difficult to see it being introduced into a PvE world without some measure of instanced zones. Despite this, I do believe it's possible over a large period of time.

Wolves Den and Frontlines already serves the purpose of catering to PvP fans, but it also acts as a testbed to gauge just how popular PvP is already from within FFXIV. The answer should be obvious to anyone who takes part in PvP normally -- it's not really as popular as it may seem. Severe lack of queues for Wolves Den. Sub-optimal queue times and very empty alliances for Frontlines. Granted, the rewards for PvP are outdated (released in 2.1) and have been for the most part exhausted. The only real way of re-injecting some life into PvP right now is to increase ranks and bring on more rewards, something which is coming in 2.4 already. Beyond that will be more rules, more maps, and more PvE elements thrown in.

I feel they should first work on Wolves' Den and Frontlines much more, make sure that PvP model is solid, then they could look into non-instanced PvP gameplay.
