    nerfed mages and screwed enmity o_o

    Ok where do i start.

    well I have been playing this game since closed Beta and apart from the obvious faults I have been a happy gamer up until last week.

    The main reason for my upset are the mage class changes. I spent alot of time ranking up conj and thaum and enjoyed playing both very much, thats untill 1.18 went live.

    Thaumaturge has no AoE? thats just stupid, I got to rank 50 to find out a few weeks later that it is a job I will never use again

    Conjurer: sure it feel a bit more like a white mage now, but MP cost for cure spells are all wrong I tell you!! either we need more MP or the spells need to cost half what they do now. i like the addition of rebirth and raise II but what was wrong with AoE cure 1 2 and 3? they worked perfectly fine.

    Now Curaga spells, it would seem that if I even think about casting it I draw hate from the tank and get eaten by a mob, enmity needs to be looked at also,

    I have spent alot of my time on this game and it a shame to see it a big step backward, I thought 1.18 would slove alot of issues and I know it has, but it has also created a few big problems that need to be fixed.

    I hope someone from SE reads this

    The game worked just fine pre-1.18. Sure everything was easy as hell, but it worked!

    I've been fine with the MP and the emnity. Don't think those are an issue. Well it definately isn't easier but it's not too difficult either^^

    mages are balenced now, before the patch you had unlimited MP, now you have to manage it.
    enmity was always broken.

    its going to take more than 1.18 to fix the battle system even SE said them selfs, this is just the first.
    i dont see much difference other than you cant kill mobs 20+ levels higher than you now.

    enmity is a little bit #@$%'ed up but that doesn't mean it cannot be control. :| just sayin'

    I was in a party fighting Uraeus with the OP, and I can tell you that Uraeus used to be fairly easy, well very easy if I'm honest with less than half a party.

    Tonight what we witnessed was ridiculous. I'm not blaming anyone as I love the 1.18 patch and think a fantastic job has been done and I think its shown the potential of what is to come so I'm a happy bunny. At the same time, this forum is for people to post about their experienced and perhaps vent spleen a little. During the Uraeus fight, after wiping a couple of times, we buffed up and let the tank start, so he could fight alone for the first 30 seconds or so to establish some form of hate, during which time he used every provoke, taunt, war drum and various other hate building buffs to try and establish some form of hate. Once we all joined, the poor healer, Kurai (the OP) cast 1 single Cure II spell and instantly Uraeus wandered over to him and killed him. None of this is exaggerated in any way, I was literally gobsmacked and we joked that this was the result of people having tested the system =P

    To be fair though, Uraeus has a hate reset move, which didn't help. Even when we regathered, decided on new tactics, using a MRD offtank to voke and tank to take over if the main tank lost hate, none of this helped, provoke is nowhere near powerful enough, not are many of the hate moves yet hate for Cures and Curagas are way too strong hatewise.

    I look forward to what is clearly an unbalanced system to be balanced as I love the way the team has listened so far and the fact we have chocobos and airships and Ifrit fight coming in 1.19 its clear that now big changes have taken place and tweaks will fix them, there's so much more the game is throwing at us in quick succession. Hopefully this thread will highlight an area that needs tweaking ^^

    One of our GLAs who is very experienced (played FFXI since launch) found that the best way to gain hate was for him to just cure someone. However, post patch he only has enough MP for 3 cures. War Drum, Warmonger, Provoke II, Disorient, etc do absolutely nothing.

    I mention that he's very experienced just to emphasize that he knows the game and battle mechanics, it's just bad emnity control post patch.

    Spamming buffs or taunt won't get the tank any emnity. Only damage and heal currently produce emnity afaik. In other words: the emnity system is still a bit bugged :P

    Mages needed to be nerfed, shouldn't have unlimited mp or be able to solo everything in game xD Heck MP is still insanely easy to manage^^ people constantly complain about it but I'm glad FF isn't starting to turn into a mmo where you just mash same key over and over and auto win ... mind you these are the same people who complain you can't do 45 raid without arc or that ToTo is hard at 25 lmao (Insanely easy dungeon inc boss, glad the 45 actually has a challenge)

    Let's see.

    1:1 Ratio on Hate (Cure & Damage)
    Most challenging fights spam AoE, thus requiring AoE spam heals
    No tank can compare to those ratios
    Fights remain bloody & frustrating

    OR

    Split the party up to avoid mass AoE
    Include healers dedicated for focus on Tank
    Include healer(s) dedicated for focus on Melee
    Run in & Out if you're about to die (or come Mage or Archer -.-)



    tl;dr: not everyone has to always be on the same monster(s)
