It Needs To Be Easier to Transfer Items Between Your Characters On The Same World

    Seriously.

Everquest 2 did it so simply, gave everyone shared bank slots.

Just allow us to send mail to our other characters, simple fix.

SE specifically designed this restrictive system in an atempt to discourage the transferring of gil and items for real money by RMT (Real Money Traders), or 'gilsellers' as they're also known as here. It hasn't been too successful, but really, there is little need to have 'mule' characters for item storage anyway (thus negating the point of sending things between your own characters), as that's what retainers are meant for - extra storage space.

That makes some sense when it comes to transferring to other people you're not associated with (except that the "friend" requirement is too easy to set up for it to be very effective). But it doesn't pertain to your own alts unless someone is selling gil to himself/herself.

Item storage isn't the primary reason for transferring items. It's mostly things like all characters transferring the crafting supplies they get in drops to the character you're doing most of your crafting with, and then that character in turn sending crafted gear to each of your other characters to use. Or when one character gets a gear drop that another character needs, you can send it to him (provided that it's tradeable). I also pass all items I plan to sell to a single character, so I only need to keep checking the marketboards from that one.

No. It's been discussed multiple times. It has not yet been addressed. It will continue to get discussed until SE fixes the problem. (The explanation SE has given doesn't even apply to a person's own alts. It's just about transfers to other players.)

The main reason most people transfer items in MMORPGs is to gear out alternate characters.

But as most gear binds to you after gaining even a single point of spiritbond, and given the fact gear is actually pretty easy to come by, there's no real need to gear out alts - simply playing your alts as normal will gain them any gear they need. So you can't use alts as a dumping ground for old gear you have but can't sell for this reason, and thus the item transfer system doesn't compensate for gearing out alts.

I can HQ any of the gear my alt would need during leveling. It would be nice to have a way to craft that and then just transfer it, instead of either asking a friend to help, or buying the gear on my alt. That's where I think the other people in this thread may be coming from.

I'm not sure how not being able to mail or transfer stuff to your alt impairs the function of gil/item farmers for RMT. don't they all run multiple accounts at once, and can bounce items and gil through there alt accounts?
This restriction seems to assume that they have no one to aid in transferring their items when it's needed, and they they need to transfer their items to an alt character. The only condition I could see this having any real effect in is if the RMT gil/item farming is working on his or her own with no co-workers, and only a single account. Another thing is that Characters don't get Banned, accounts do. So any attempt to "hide" stuff on an alt character is pointless.

The only point I could see to this, is to try to increase the amount of paper trails that a RMT farmer creates, assuming he needs to transfer items to an alt, he would bounce the items through another account or fellow farmer.
