FPS spiking from a smooth 45+ FPS to a choppy 8-15 FPS consistently.

Hello. I recently purchased a new rig from a friend, with high expectations, I'm not seeing the quality that I paid for. While chilling in Mor Dhona, I notice a smooth frame rate of about 45+ frames per second, but then suddenly, the frames drop to around 8-15 FPS and everything gets really choppy graphics wise. During this frame rate decline, my CPU usage also spikes from about 25% usage to around 80-90%. Not really sure what the issue is here.

Here are some measures I've already taken:

-Updated my video card drivers to the most current update.

-Checked temperatures. Nothing is over heating, as all my components are staying about 30C ~ 50C tops (video card).

-Also checked task manager for strange processes that might be causing the spike. Nothing unusual blooms when the spike occurs, expect FFXIV going from taking up 950k memory to about 1,050,000. I have very few programs running.

My specs are:

EVGA GTX 760 SC
AMD FX 8320
ASRock 960GM/U3S3
8G RAM
Running: Win 7 64 bit

Any advice would be appreciated.

What is your GPU usage during the game running.

That might be some issues, can you check your GPU-Z and see if you're not running on PCIe 1.1? Should be PCIe 2 x16. Check your BIOS and update your BIOS if there is one.

Make sure you card is in the blue slot: - 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot (blue @ x16 mode)



GTX Titan here runs at 80-90% usage with FFXIV.

No, it happens regardless of where and what I am doing.

set your system performance profile to High.

your cpu is probably droping to idle clocks (coz amd just fails that way)

My performance is set to Desktop High. I've noticed it happens even more frequently on a higher setting than on the Standard Desktop setting actually.
