    Have you tried to play in windowed mode? I got crashes every time I alt-tabbed from a full screen, so I got the habit to play this game in windowed mode only. Also I got that black screen on game launch a few times with my old GTX260. Had no more such issues after I upgraded to GTX570 and updated to the last driver (266.58).
    It is also possible that your power supply might not be able to provide the sufficient current for your graphics card. For example, my old GTX260 needed 30A current on 12V. My new GTX570 needs 42A. My power supply can provide up to 28A with 8-pin connectors and up to 18A with 6-pin connectors. Therefore, connecting 2 6-pin connectors to my old graphics card provided enough current (18+18=36) as well as connecting 1 8-pin connector and 1 6-pin connector (28+18=46) to my new card.
    This game is really heavy, therefore such power issue, if power shortage is very little (like 1-2A) might just not make itself known with other games, because they don't force your graphics card to work on edge.
