Doom spike is actually strong. PB+Rockbreaker is also pretty strong.

But yes, in low level DF, it really doesn't make sense to pull big if the dungeon is below the level which the party's DPS classes get their AOE attacks.

Pretty true. In low level dungeons, it's more efficient to do smaller pulls but have the healer toss Cleric Stance and join the fun.
