At least where there was super-inflation on FFXI it was for BiS gear at the time, like Scorpion Harness+1

But have you seen how adorable it looks?

Map double mooch!!
I'm surprised the price is so high for so many servers. I'm on Balmung (legacy) and the price seems to hover between 2.5M and 4M. Still ridiculous imo, but half what other servers are selling for X_X

Well I got 2 unhidden maps in a row last week and thought id try and find out what the map drops other than the nutkin (I have found the map 2 other times and attempted it only to be massively disappointed with the cost of the map being much higher than the cost of the item reward)
On Leviathan every single item from that chest is less than the map sells for by a decent margin, the maps sell for approximately 200k and only one item will get you close to that reward and a handful of others will net you maybe 100k. The Nutkin sells for 6 million but if in my assumptions that it is somewhere along 5% drop rate like what the other minions are that's a 1/20 chance which means all things being random and you do come across it on the 20th time (Not the case for me since I did almost a 8 months worth of boarskin maps daily before seeing tonberry and likewise with my friend too who got his on the first drop and never saw one again until yesterday)
You are likely to lose somewhere around 2-4 million gil to just try and force one, that's if your lucky enough to get it in the first 20 times. If its similar to the tonberry minion then it would prob take me over 100 maps and cost me atleast 10 million or more. So for me I just put the maps on the market board and take my 200k instead of gambling it for nothing. Normally its the same handful of people that buy out the maps so they are either trying hard for themselves or to make a profit. Which would mean 6 million is a reasonable price, compared to the investment and risk furthermore if someone has invested a lot into getting that minion to sell they are much more reluctant to drop prices to sell it quicker, not to mention its huge rarity completely restricting supply and thus normally being almost no competition it sits on the board until someone pays that 6 million.
PS I just did a map as they were selling for 150k (and mine sold for 200k) and thought i'd try and see:
10,000 gil
polarised glass - 16k
morbol saliva - 15k
2 animal fat - 9k
grade 3 shroud soil - 4k
50 ice cluster - 37k
aetherial rainmaker hat - 0 (I guess this could be spiritbonded into materia and make a significant amount of gil depending on luck so in theory it could be worth between 500 gil and 150k)
Total will be around 90k after tax. A loss of 60k. (or almost break even if you include the profit I made from selling my map and buying the other one at 50k cheaper)

Because people will pay that much.

That's cute, the last one on Ragnarok sold at 10M. This is madness...

It's rare I suppose.
~Quit moping, get hoping~

All I know is, it's really freakin' cute when he sits on my head. ^__^
because.... houses dont drop from random mobs <3

This is a positive thing, I think. It's unlikely that you'll be kicked from a party for not having a Nutkin, where this was a very real thing for BiS items in FFXI. "Come back when you've saved up for a Nutkin, n00b!"
