I'm...not really sure how to simplify it beyond "This is too many expensive materials to make for gear that's only good for glamour" and "It is only going to get more useless in a couple of weeks"

I've personally crafted 5 vortex bows (4 out 5 HQ), moogle mogfists, mogblade, mogtome (SCH), Tremor Cane, and Vortex spear. I farmed most of them and had a good time doing it. Finally things in game to craft that aren't open for everyone to do. Only the truly dedicated and motivated crafters are able to farm the mats and desynth for what is needed.

That's a pretty closeminded way of looking at it in a game where pretty much the entire premise is "Anybody can do everything".
