Challenge vs. reward: turn 5

I was in a small FC for a while and couldn't clear turn 5 because we lacked the number of skilled players to do it. Eventually I joined up with a very large FC and keep up with my old FC friends through LS
Now, however, I can immediately ask a group of 300 people if they want to go run something. Not a day passes without somebody asking about running turn 5 or Titan EX or nearly anything else. Tons of people who have completed it before gladly jump in and help others get a clear.

There's virtually no downside to joining a large FC. People pretty much automatically help you because you're part of their group. The biggest downside I've seen is the constant FC chatter can distract me during boss fights sometimes.

I am in a small FC where we don't even have 8 people ready for second coil and I still have to kill Titan ex though I did beat Leviathan and Moogle in first week after they got unlocked - Moogle died in 1st practice party and Leviathan took 5 tries to die because I couldn't get used to his jumps fast enough.
We actually lost some members that couldn't beat T5 and joined large FC in hope for a carry and guess what - couple of weeks later we got 2 decent players in PF group and beat T5 in 1st try. Those who left still haven't cleared T5.
So I prefer to be with people that I like and be the lame dude that beat most content only after addition of Echo rather than be just another random noob in large FC that spams chat in hope that someone will carry me through content.
About T5 itself - all you need to do now is:
1) when first neurolink drops - instantly run to safe spot and get ready for divebombs. I actually did find it hard to see where I am standing in safe spot so I removed other player titles and surnames for T5 in character settings to be able to see how close to the purple wall I am standing
2) get ready for 1st twister right after Twintania use Aetheric Profusion for 1st time

Conflag phase takes 1 min or less, Asceplius die no matter what and I think you don't see more than 2 dreadknights in the fight due to massive Echo boost and player item levels.

Important to know for healers: sometimes twinnie do death sentence before first twister.

I guess it could be nice if they added a rare mount or something to the drops on T5. Maybe add an item similar to Mirror of the Whorl that you can upgrade your Allagan weapons with too (Now with added glow!).

But I think that even if they did increase the rewards for T5, it wouldn't solve your problem OP, as most experienced players that want those items will stick with their experienced groups to farm it, rather than joining newbies.

Yoshi P mentioned in an interview (Dengeki Online 19.08.2014) that he likes to increase original coil gear ilvl by 5 (making gear i95 and weapons i100) to keep it relevant. That specific interview was mostly about 2.4 stuff, so we might see this ilvl increase in just a few weeks from now.

With a little luck this acts as an incentive for experienced players to redo it to farm i100 weps for alt jobs since it's basically a 6 minute fight now with 20% echo and thus quicker than Ramuh EX (at least i suppose, cleared T5 but didn't do Ramuh EX yet).

I do have some sympathy because DF groups are typically awful at that fight (outside of JP datacentre, at least) but I don't think altering the iLvl of drops is a good solution. T5 already has the best reward of any fight, which is access to current content.

As people have said, slowly building a linkshell of players who want to progress at your level seems the way to go. Adding a mount or something to the drop table might increase the number of people running it but anyone serious about doing so is likely just to run a farm group with people they know can one-shot it.

I can understand not wanting to leave your FC but building a core of players from your server or even joining/forming a static don't require leaving at all. You'll get there eventually, it just might take some time getting to know folk.
