    Picking up adds

Hello! I M leveling a Paladin and hit 37 yesterday. For the most part I am not having major troubles (although it's really hard to stun with shield bash being on gcd) but the last boss of haukke is simply a nightmare. No matter what I do, I can't seem to hold hate on the bombs. I shield lob them as soon as i see them on the enemy list (I am playing on ps3 and scroll the enemy list with R1+up/down to target) and then flash while they're not yet at melee range for my hate combo, but most times something goes wrong during flash, or even before that, and the bombs will run for the healer and it's impossible to get them back.
Now haukke is easy and there's nothing to worry, but I fear I'm doing it wrong and it might give me serious issues in harder content. Haukke is really the only place I have troubles with adds, but I noticed if I don't get to them very quickly (in other dungeons), it's extremely easy to lose hate.
    Any suggestions please?

I have played this on as a healer (haven't yet played as my pally. However even if I get adds I then run over to the tank so they can pull them off. Or the DPS pulls them off.

I could be wrong, but don't the bombs just explode and die after a little while? You probably don't need to pick them up at all.

Yeah it's not an issue in haukke, they're weak, but if it doesn't work there ot may not work for content where taking adds actually matters.

Sasoriza, no one brings me the adds, ever

Yeah, most people who don't usually tank don't realize how aggravating it is to run behind adds because the dps/heal don't want to bring them to you. That's how we learn.

I wouldn't worry too much about these bombs. I can't say for certain, but I am pretty sure that these particular bombs ignore the usual aggro table used by most mobs. They choose a target and chase it down the end of the world.... Until they suicide.

    So yeah, have no fear.

A big part of it is just going to be just learning the fights. Know when the adds are going to pop, and where, and do what you can to be there. If you know adds pop when the boss is at 70%, stop doing GCD stuff at 71-73% (depends on how fast it's going down) and get your target switching fingers ready. If it's a fight where they pop in the same place, and it's safe to drag the boss there, do it.

Also, don't panic, prioritize. This also comes with knowing the fights. Which adds are the most dangerous? How fast are they going to die? If it seems like chaos, take a breath and go one GCD at a time, since that's about all you can do anyway.

With most fights, the adds fall into one of four categories. 1) You need to pick this up NOW. 2) You need to pick this up before it causes too much damage to someone else. 3) You probably can just ignore this. 4) You are SUPPOSED to ignore this.

The only ones you really need to freak out about are category 1, and those pretty much always spawn at a predictable time and in a predictable place. And you won't run into them until 50. Use the time until then to practice calmness and prioritization.

It sounds like you understand the tools you have available. Don't worry if you can't always hold enmity on many targets. It's actually normal and there are situations where it is impossible in this game to hold everything, especially when multiple adds spawn in scattered positions across the room and dps are going for the kill before you get a chance to tag them all.

You may want to cancel the Medica buff as the bombs are coming out - that's probably why they're going straight for the healer. This can also help before pulling a fresh pack in any dungeon, although I'm not sure if the healer will pull aggro via Medica if your HP is topped off.

I'm not sure what you mean by Medica buff, if it's the regen from Medica II, I am talking about Haukke NM, it's not available yet. But yeah I know what you mean, I main WHM so I am always careful with my regen and know to take it off before pulling.

This is actually what I started to think. All I've found in guides is that they chase the players who are trying to disable the lamps, so maybe that's why some people get aggro all of a sudden. I honestly never worried with guides for low level dungeons because I have done them ad nauseam as a healer, I think I know everything there is to know about them :/

Thanks for the reassurance guys, I'm feeling more confident about my tanking abilities
