My theory on Gigas.

That they could be, in fact, Allagans that where mutated from the aetheric backlash from the Crystal Tower when it went critcal due to not being able to handle the amount of power channeled from Bahamut in Dalamud.

If they where supporters of Xande it would explain the Gigas apparent worship of the Crystal Tower.

My theory is that they may be descended from Allagens experimented on by Amon. I'm assuming here that Amon, Xande, Phlegethon and Scylla were all once more Unei and Doga's size and that one of Amon's mad science obsessions was making giants.

There was a discussion about this topic here a while ago, and the general belief arrived at is that far from being descended from the Allagans, it's possible that the gigas are actually a slave race genetically engineered by them (which explains their obsession with the Crystal Tower - they helped build it, and the single minded obsession is a cultural memory of the place they no longer understand, but is still engrained in their consciousness). I'll try find the thread and post a link here.

Yeah, it always falls back on choosing between [1] They're mutated Allag [2] They're failed Amon experiments [3] They're totally unrelated. Always funny to see the Darksteelfoil Hat progression from Gigas to Allag to the Twelve, though. Probably not in the least bit true, but a good example of how easily theories that make sense can go awry.

There is no evidence that Lalas once populated the Allagan Empire (We only saw Roe, Hyurs, and perhaps Miqote if G'raha T'ia's eye is allagan royal family traits)

Yeah, from what I was aware lalafell originated on the southern islands and only migrated to Eorzea comparatively recently: (as stated here:)
