    Said this when first started doing it, gonna say it again: atma is bad and it needs serious adjustment. Did it for SMN, that being my main, haven't looked back ever since - two stray pieces of candy that I got randomly when jumped in to help friends out are taking up slots on my retainer, but that's it. Absolutely no intention of doing it again until it's changed. It's soul-sucking and I can clearly remember I was a mindless zombie for days after finally finishing it the first time.

    What's funny is, we see all the relevant current (endgame-level-appropriate) content being nerfed ("adjusted") in almost every subsequent patch, yet this piece of...monstrosity has remained the very same ever since it came alive (when was that again?)... Oddly unbalanced stuff is oddly unbalanced. And no, the grind itself is not the problem - the problem is its absolute, exclusive gating behind RNG, which makes it nothing but a gamble, with no sense of progression. Congrats to the guy who already has 9 animus relics (and probably is storing the 12 atma needed for the NIN relic, is that what you're gonna say next, I assume?), but when someone has, say, 2 hours to play a day, what can they do? Grind FATEs for two hours straight and then end up wasting their time if nothing drops, or maybe attempt 3-5 FATEs only and do other things they can surely progress with - and risk being called lazy about atma. Great choices, either way...

    There's that thread "FF 14 jokes", seeing it always makes me think of one thing - one word only: atma.

    Yup it's high time that they buff the drop rate for atmas... or make it a sliding % increase with each failure. And yeah was near 1000 fates when I got all 12 with 8h+ spent multiple 2-3 days in a row without a single drop...

    i wonder how many hours this person did spend for reach this, because it's nice to call it perseverance, but it's more about the number of hours spend on this.

    Having done the Atma segment of the Relic quest once so far (and am working on it still on this character), I must say that I will NOT complain if they decided to raise the drop rates for the Atma. Some Atma I've been lucky to get fairly quickly, other Atma have taken me 10 hours or more of straight FATE farming. The only good side is that I got the FATE achievements out of the way.

    I've suggested this before, as im sure many people of suggested this idea. Just let us not have the weapon equipped so we can grind alts atleast why waiting for the .001% chance for drop... come on SE, throw us a bone here

    Am I the only person who notices how similar the Atma situation is to modern irl inequity concerns? Every thread I read on Atma there's the unlucky ones explaining how they've been farming for hundreds of hours and then there's the extremely lucky ones, who finished one or more sets in a fraction of the time, spouting garbage like "just work smarter/harder, that's what I did when I finished my set in three hours."

    And actually felt progress after every wipe...not Atma, it's a game of RNG and no one likes that sh!t.
    I don't think most people felt rewarded with the Atma, they were just glad that crap was done and over with.
    Not to mention is boring as hell!
    The word "rewarding" gets thrown around and misused on these forums almost as much as the word "complexity", but this is one of the few posts where the word is properly used.

    I'd have no problem with the upgrade system if it had been gated behind battle content that was not irrelevant to someone at level cap. You can't really plan for atma grinding because all you're doing is spamming FATEs and pray that the RNG favors you so that you can get the hell out of there and move on. A combination of myth/sold tomes and gating behind stuff like extreme primals would have made the experience much more bearable and desirable to those who want to continue upgrading their relic. I've personally put my curtana +1 in storage; I'm not much of a gambling man, so the current method to obtain atma is simply not for me.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    Fate 数: 361+ fates for all 12 of my Ninja's Atmas. (I only counted fates that succeeded and were gold rank)

    Basically in the time it took you to get one, I would have probably gained 16.

    well since it's RNG, some atma can be found in no time and some can take age for find, all i try to say, it's base your thinking on one case is not the best way, without forget, if you look at the zenith part, it was ease with the change of the drop of the myth, it's time to ease atma a bit, we don't say to make it way too easy, but really increase a bit the atma drop.

    even if i think it will have been better to drop the rng part and simply ask to do a certain amount of FATE for each atma.
