The way I see it, these relic weapons are more of a status symbol of "I put a bunch of time into this". If you want to actually get a decent weapon, there have always been much easier and much faster alternatives (the weekly 3 ex primals, levi ex, UAT). Its true that *currently* nexus will be the best weapon for your character, but really besides accuracy the secondaries aren't really going to make a noticeable difference in most cases (the i115 will make a difference over the i110 weapons obviously). The relic weapons are long term goals to work towards, whether you think its worth it to work towards that goal is up to you.

Does the atma grind/lottery suck? Sure does, I'm currently at ~850 FATEs (tracking it with achievements because I've hardly done FATEs outside of atma) and only 5/12. But should it be changed? I don't think so. Come 2.4, you will very easily be able to get an i100/i110 UAT weapon and they will likely add another weapon that will be a little better than that. The relic weapon should still be for those who wish to invest all the time into it.

I am at 14 hours in a grind for Atma of the Scorpion, my second run for atmas. Has this week been the most entertaining for me in the game? No. Am I bored off my arse? No. I can run various hunt mobs when they pop up but again, this isn't the most fun thing to do in the game, for a week, over 14 hours now, for one atma.

Do I wish drop rates would be better and/or increased? Hell no.

Maybe it is because I come from humble MMORPG beginnings when "the grind" was all we had. Those of you that have played MMO's pre WoW (admittedly, WoW did have a good amount of time sinks and grind in the beginning... Gates of Ahn'qiraj FTW) will remember grinding out everything, and we can take what modern theme park MMOs give us as "grinds" because that is what we started with.

In my opinion it is possible that a majority that agree drop rates are fine are those of us that come from grindtastic old school MMO gameplay.

Having recently getting into Atma and now working on Novus, over a course of about 8 Days, I can say the drop rates of the Atmas are ok as is however they should add an alternative Non - RNG method to obtain them.

Allow the players to be rewarded the Atma after a certain amount of Fates are completed in a given Area, 100 seems like a fair number there.

You keep the grind and yet remove the "endless" RNG based method players hate.

    win-win

You stopped having a valid opinion when you got it in 8 days.

There are people who have been trying for hours every day for months and didn't get a full set.

100 FATE's? Not really fair, especially when people (like myself) have received Atma's after one or three FATE's. If you include a % system that goes up by 1% per FATE (with 99 FATE's = 100% guarantee drop) you didn't get an Atma, then sure (an idea someone else came up with). It'll keep that grind people are defending for whatever reason, but also guarantee a drop that won't take 10-XX hours.

Let's the players know they'll get it either before or at 99 FATE's.

SE forgot how to do that back in 2.2. Remember Pharos Sirius 2.1? Me neither.

Yeah this is the best solution IMO, keep the RNG but not going too far into torturing people (over 100 fates).

I agree, it's time to take RNG out of it or at least improve the percentage a bit.
There's still several people I know who haven't gotten an Atma weapon yet because they tried the grind and gave up. Not everyone has hours of free time to waste time grinding for atmas. Especially with other content to do like hunts, coil, etc.

For the record I've gotten my atma weapon and I'm eager to try for the next but I agree with the OP and think it should be more fair for everyone.
It's not fair if some people get it in days and others, months.
