I'm thinking of what if the devs change the background of menu screen?

First, I want to apologize for my bad grammar. So to begin, I just think about this today and I think this is a good suggestion so I'm posting it for everyone to discuss.

You know the menu screen when you log into the game and you have to select "Start Game" to go into your character screen? I wonder why the devs don't change the game logo (the current is FF14: ARR logo) to the specific logo of this time current major patch?

For example we are right now in patch 2.3, Defenders of Eorzea, and next month we can enjoy patch 2.4, Dreams of Ice. Instead we have to see the logo ARR everytime we log in, we can see the logo of patch 2.3 replace the ARR logo with some effects on the background to fit the patch theme. And in patch 2.4, we can see the logo of Dreams of Ice and some icy effects around it. And also patch 2.5 which we don't know anything yet. (my guess is Omega)

The reason for this suggestion is the game is now one year old, and in that time, I see the ARR logo everytime I log in to the game and this sometimes make me bored. So why not make it something new when it already grown this old? I know when the expansion release, they will replace the ARR logo with the expansion logo, so why not try this minor thing in every major patch to make it looks newer? And everytime new major patch annouced, the logo only use in trailer and news article which kinda wasted.

i actually agree with this. i dnt mind the original, but the logos for the patches do look cool. What is the point of making a patch log if it is only used sparingly on the games website, and not featured in the actual game?

Because the game is still officially called FFXIV: Online ~ A Realm Reborn - the patches are just that, patches which add content, but don't replace what is already in the game. The patch titles are just fancy ways of describing the content and thus attract the attention of players. Besides, a new player buying the game isn't going to ask at a game store for the game under whatever patch title it's up to, they're going to ask for FFXIV ARR, so continuing to refer to the game as it's main title only makes sense.

And before you pass judgement FFXI was the same - the game never changed it's main title on the title screen either when expansions were released (although the expansion titles were added underneath, they didn't replace the game's original title).

I agree, add some spice. It's not going to hurt anyone, and there is too much repetition in this game as it is.

I definitely wouldn't mind this. Back when I was active on Mabinogi, the last year or so of my playtime they changed the launcher's background each time there was a new update, so we'd have gorgeously illustrated images of, say, Hamlet, or a nighttime island vista, or so on.

@Enkidoh: We're talking about the title screen you see immediately after you log in, not the box. The screen would then be something like Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn with the current patch logo (let's say 2.3 for argument's sake) and then below, something like 2.3 ~ Guardians of Eorzea.

How about an option to change the Star Screen/Main Titles background?
I assume its saved to hard disk so why not let it load a different one from the patch logos

We have the logo for the game icon on your desktop screen, we have the logo when you open the launcher to type your ID account + password. We also have the logo on the official site. I'm talking about the logo in the game screen when you already log in, press Start and the Character screen appear.

And beside, when you go to the game store, you know what game you want to buy, what game you want to pre-order, because you know what that game is.
