I play on a laptop with an external monitor; my set-up is for borderless windowed, and it plays on the secondary display; my external monitor. This has never been an issue, previously. Three times now, when I have logged into FFXIV, the screen starts jumping wildly, and the display shifts so that the extended display borders are not at the edges of the monitors, but in the middle of the displays (see photo). While this is occurring, the picture is distorted as well as flickering, and static emits from the speakers. This happens when actually logging in; the start screen and character selection are fine.
The second time it happened, the monitors ceased to show a display, and the computer crashed. When I attempted to reboot, it went into safe mode, but upon restarting, the computer could not start Windows. I entered repair mode, and after the scan received a message stating that the computer could not be repaired automatically. The computer can't find the external drive for AlienRespawn, and I'm currently trying the last ditch effort of Emergency File & Backup. Even if this is fixable, I'm scared to log into FFXIV for fear of this happening again. Any ideas what's happening?
